They do idle like crap when cold but that fixes itself fairly quickly
Thanks for that!
I decided to have a closer look at the engine and had a dry compression test, which showed 175, 175, 140, 155. I'm leaving it for a couple of weeks regular driving before doing it again to test for deterioration in cylinders 3 and 4. Also appears to be a bit of a leak on the turbo somewhere. I'm tossing up whether a switch out for a used 2012+ low km motor or go for the rebuild should the condition deteriorate. Any opinions on that?
Also, I'm running APR stage 1 and have found the 95 RON and 98 RON maps to idle quite rough on cold startups. I've actually taken to switching to stock mode which is much smoother on cold and then switching over once warm.

It did when warm, but cold is still the same lol
Yeah that lean run at the beginning is savage.
Well that's the big unknown I guess. I'm trying to find out as much as possible so that when the 2009 engine i'm running finally goes bang I can make the most informed choice. I've been quoted around $4,500 for a rebuild so far after a 175, 175, 140, 155 compression test got me thinking.

Had another dry compression test run the other day, 30 days after the last. Went from
175; 175; 140; 155 to
171; 175; 137; 151.
Can see there is increased leakage across multiple cylinders now and getting ready for the eventual failure, guessing it'll happen within the next couple of months. Engine still pulls ok although there is more of a vibration at idle when warm despite replacing coil packs and plugs.
Have been driving as per normal with the APR tune to see how it fared. I am wondering if the engine is replaced instead of rebuilt whether the APR programmed ECU can simply be switched over to the new CAVD engine. Anyone know if that's the case?
