It's happened to our MK6 118TSI a few times now... various windows down at different heights and its ALWAYS checked before walking away from the car. I'm going to get it checked out at our upcoming 15k service but if it happens on a rainy day, I'll be pissed....

I've noticed that its easy to accidentally activate your key in your pocket eg when having your key with another object in your pocket which pushes against it when you bend down. It usually happens at home when the car is always in key range and not so often when people are away from home and usually out of key range.

As a newby will try to comment.
Do not know range of sensor re remote control AND interferance rejection. Think probably unrelated.
Whowever with present car, remote control extremly sensitive at long distance away from car, due to living in country.
While in Sydney, a few times would not work at all. Had to insert key! (Especially near Gore Hill)
This problem indicates possible sensitivity to local strong interferance, perhaps from nearby transmitter.
(When living in St Leonards (Sydney) had to attach filters to speakers to prevent buzz from TV stations at Gore Hill)
So suggest compare sensitivity of key remote at areas where problem occured compared to normal area.
(Occuptation before retirement centred around industrial electronics)
    Cheers

Cossor, I know about those problems in Gore Hill and some of Artarmon as well. But it doesn't sound like the cause in this instance as it's working too well.

It sounds to me, assuming it's not the remote being accidentally held, that the car thinks the remote is being held. Mind you, it's odd because the last action sounds like locking the car, so the windows should be randomly shutting themselves rather than opening.

Yep, confirmed today that if you hold down the Unlock key you can put the windows down, and if you hold Lock you can put them back up.

So - either I've accidentally pressed it too long, or it's pressed in my pocket by accident, or it's the ghosts. Will see if it happens again in future now that I know about the up/down feature on the key.

Holding down the Unlock button is Confirmed here too! Down went the windows, but all four, not three as in my original post.

When I use mine, about 95% of the time only 3 go down...and not the same 3 each time.
