    Self Lowering Windows

This morning when I got into the car to head off for work I noticed that the driver's window was all the way down. Now I *may* have forgotten to raise the window after reversing into the garage last night, but I doubt it. I raised the window and set off along the drive and as I did so, I could feel quite a cold draft. I then noticed that the front passenger window was also fully wound down, and so to was the window behind me. This is bizarre, *I* certainly didn't wind them down. Has anyone else ever experienced this phenomenon? The only thing I could posssibly have done is that last night I inserted a CD into the player ready for the morning drive. My USB memory pen-drive is still attached to the MDI in the arm rest. Could that account for the windows heading southward? I don't usually drive around with the windows down and loud 'duff-duff' music blasting out.

How about when you unlocked the car in the morning, you left your thumb on the unlock button longer than usual?

You are not alone my friend... it has happened to me (only once)
    I have a 2005 MK5 2.0 FSI Sportline.

About a month and a half ago my car was parked outside a building and after coming back from somewhere, I noticed all 4 windows were down!

I certainly didn't do it! And they weren't down when I left the car.

I was glad nothing was stolen

    Bizzare, yes.

Did I touch the unlock button a little too long? I hope that was what happened

    Hasn't happened again tho
I better buy my new GTI just to make sure it doesn't happen again!

I don't lock the car when it's in my garage, but the unlock button would surely send the windows northwards?

Well, that's possible of course, however any ghost is likely to get exorcised when I've had baked beans for tea!

Well now, that's interesting. I wonder if some form of radio interference could cause it?

It definitely is a job for Mulder & Scully!

It's happened to our MK6 118TSI a few times now... various windows down at different heights and its ALWAYS checked before walking away from the car. I'm going to get it checked out at our upcoming 15k service but if it happens on a rainy day, I'll be pissed....

I've noticed that its easy to accidentally activate your key in your pocket eg when having your key with another object in your pocket which pushes against it when you bend down. It usually happens at home when the car is always in key range and not so often when people are away from home and usually out of key range.

As a newby will try to comment.
Do not know range of sensor re remote control AND interferance rejection. Think probably unrelated.
Whowever with present car, remote control extremly sensitive at long distance away from car, due to living in country.
While in Sydney, a few times would not work at all. Had to insert key! (Especially near Gore Hill)
This problem indicates possible sensitivity to local strong interferance, perhaps from nearby transmitter.
(When living in St Leonards (Sydney) had to attach filters to speakers to prevent buzz from TV stations at Gore Hill)
So suggest compare sensitivity of key remote at areas where problem occured compared to normal area.
(Occuptation before retirement centred around industrial electronics)
    Cheers

Cossor, I know about those problems in Gore Hill and some of Artarmon as well. But it doesn't sound like the cause in this instance as it's working too well.

It sounds to me, assuming it's not the remote being accidentally held, that the car thinks the remote is being held. Mind you, it's odd because the last action sounds like locking the car, so the windows should be randomly shutting themselves rather than opening.
