Hi i have just bought a 2010 5-door GTI in White with Black leather, DSG and detroits. Went to Melboune to get it and drove back to QLD. The car was a 1 owner company car, with full dealer history, the only slight downside was the car has just tipped 89,000K's, but to be honest that does'nt bother me, as the car is like new! got a good trade price in on my Toureg against it and done a deal for less than 30K. I had been looking around and just couldn't find anything to the spec in QLD, so i decided to just bite the bullett and go get it. Cars are cheaper in Melbourne and i would recommend that you have a look about, as there are some pretty nice loaded VW's to have there. i got mine from Camberwell Toyota and they also had a 3-door White Golf R for sale! if i could of afforded the price on this i would of snapped it up!! this one had all the options and they were having trouble selling it, as no one could justify the extra over the GTI.

That the challenge with the Golf R people that are buying Golfs are practical and logical, they perceive quality and value in getting a hatch but falter on the unseen uplift in the car overall. You are not just paying for a badge you actually get more.. but you just have to go read the GTI v R thread to understand.. or if you are a GTI owner not to..

    Used MkVI prices

    Hi all,

I've wanted a GTi for a long time now, and the last time I seriously considered and almost took the leap on a MkV, I got scolded and decided to put the money into purchasing my first home/unit instead. Probably was the wiser move though..

This time, the urge has come back again. Because I've been out of the loop for a bit, just wondering what would be the ongoing price for a used MkVi GTi with leather, five doors, and under 60k on the clock these days?

From looking at the forums, a brand new MkVI is already starting to run out at about $40k brand new..personally I'd love to spend $30k or less!

    Cheers,
    Ivan

It wouldn't take all that much effort to do a search on carsales.com.au Ivan.

I am in no way affiliated with carsales.com.au or any of the following owners or cars.

There is a red, DSG 2009 MY10 MkVI GTI with 46,281 km, leather, MDI & after market 17" wheels. Asking price is $28,585 in QLD.

There is a black, DSG 2010 MY10 MkVI GTI with 40,214 km with leather, sunroof, bluetooth, MDI for $28,990 in NSW.

If you prefer buying from a dealership there is a red, DSG 2010 MY10 MkVI GTI with 56,251 km and leather, one owner, 18" Detroit alloys for $29,990 drive away in VIC.

There is a red, manual, 2010 MY10 MkVI GTI with 42,000km, leather & a sunroof - asking pricing is $30,700 in VIC.

There are 4 examples that fall within your price range (I'm sure you could haggle at least $700 off of the last car) from a quick look on carsales. So yes you can find MkVI GTIs with leather and less than 60,000 km for under $30,000 but just remember that the 60,000 km service is a major (ie expensive) one, even more so for cars with DSG so take that into account when buying one.

    Thanks for that writeoff..

I have done a search as well, but wanted to know what other forum members would of personally thought considering MkVII has been announced and the the new MKVI's are in run-out mode!

Maybe it's better I sit back a little longer to see if prices fall a little bit more in the new year.....and also due to the fact I'm FIFO for the next 3 months and won't actually be able to enjoy my new purchase until I return to civilisation..

New model GTI won't be here for a while yet so that type of drop-off hasn't quite happened yet. The average GTI owner probably hasn't seen the new model yet either. People selling their car aren't going to reduce their asking price by a lot just because of bunch of forum members think it should be lower so there's not really much for us to say. What it is is what it is

All cars lose lots in the first few years. Like 40% to 50%. So getting a 3 year old GTI in the late 20s is pretty realistic with reasonable kms

Out of interest looking and contemplating how much my car is worth privately. There are only a handful of cars similar to mine on carsales so a bit hard to see what people are paying for them.

Fully serviced, it is in immaculate condition, not a crease on the leather, no marks etc.

    18" Detroit Wheels
    Full Leather
    Xenon Lights
    Sunroof
    Rear Camera
    MDI
    USB/Aux

So it is very well optioned, and is rare, especially being manual and 3 door. I was thinking listing 34-35k would be reasonable?

    MK6 good time to sell?

As you may be aware, the 7 speed DSG has been a rather pain - with my warranty running out at the end of October is it a good time to sell now & get a GTI or wait?

I would prefer to trade it in and step into a MK7 GTI, but who knows when that's coming.

I've got about 45.5K on the clock so far, so that 60K service will be round the corner fairly soon ( ie $1,200 service )
