I've been looking for a MK6 90 tsi and came across a MY12 one with very low kms (7000 to be exact). going and viewing it, it all appears to be in order, drove it and drives fine.

the owner spends about half the year overseas hence the low kms, but he has also missed the annual service. it has so far only been in once to the dealership for the 1000km service, and had a oil change but not done at a dealership.

looking under the carpet i found a recall sticker for 37G7 which was related to a software upgrade to correct an issue with the DSG if it has been sitting around for too long.

My main concern lies around the DQ200 gearbox. Looking around i see that the major recall last year was related to the synthetic oil used in the box, but only affected cars upto MY11. Are my concerns unfounded since the car is a MY12?

Reading the forums, I see that people who had their clutch packs replaced and issues with false neutrals mostly had the earlier model year cars.

Hey all, was looking at a mk6 gti for sale which has a scrape/scratch on the rear passenger side panel, Was wondering how much it would possibly cost to fix this, and what would be involved in that process (i.e resprays).

The colour of the car is carbon steel gray.

    Thanks.

MY12 Mk 6 candy white, leather, DSG, sunroof, rns510 satnav and reverse camera - all standard fit. 26000 on clock. Just paid for 30k service at dealer. 2 years young. I think $34k is realistic. Selling in January to get A3.

I consider the Golf GTi good value at 40-44k not 55k which is easy to do!

As a guide I'd like to think I could get 38k for my MY11 Tornado Red MKVI GTi 5 door with dsg, mdi, 18" detroits and only 3800kms.

I had a similar pole scratch on my silver Liberty about 10 years back & it was $1500 cash. They have to blend it in to all the surrounding panels. The painter came recommended by several others but it never looked quite "factory".

I'd want a huge discount to buy a car with a scratch like that.

I recently sold my Tornado Red MY10 (March 2010 build) with DSG, leather, sunroof, RNS-510, reversing camera and Dynaudio (along with a few accessories - 18" Omanyt rims, Golf R LED tails, APR stage 1 etc), for just under $30k. It had done 31,500km.

    Considering a golf 118 TSI

Guys I'm wanting to buy a used mk6 golf 118 tsi but have been put off by all the problems that seem to be associated with this car,is it a lottery when it comes to buying? I really want the quality vw bring but don't want to have to put up with problems just like everyone else.
Are their any other cars anyone could recommend anything at all really?
It's going to be my daily driver, looking for a hatch or similar, between 10,000-$20,000.

GTIs will be high mileage at $20k, but if you do a decent drive the 103TDIs are reliable and are also mated to the much more reliable 6spd DSG and drive nicely to boot.

The mk 6 118tsi was plagued with a few developmental issues and hopefully would have been sorted out.

    Supercharger clutch
    pistons
7 spd DSG clutch pack and mechatronics

experienced some of them but VW was good in fixing my problems. When good, the car is a joy to use. So much so, I bought a 118TSI beetle to replace the golf when it's time was due.

Just make sure all the TSB/campaigns are carried out on the car
