I said 'a loss of confidence'. And that would be with owners who have previously had a trouble free gearbox. The ones that are on their 3rd gearbox repair have already lost any confidence in the product. And anyone who has experienced (or worse, their wife or daughter has experienced) the 'loss of forward motion fault' while driving can reasonably be expected to be ready to cut and run.
You may be a touch smug with your 6sp DSG (the good one). But anyone with a 7sp problematic DSG with an out of warranty repair bill of around $10000 may be a little less so. I wonder if they will get a refund on repairs already carried out now that VWA is acknowledging the failings of their gearbox just like VW has done elsewhere in the world.
Neither Lucas or I have DSG6.
