I note that the installation instructions on the S2T web site vw-instructions says the following "Please note on the MK6 installation: Earlier versions of the S2T Paddle Shifters may require trimming the leather on the reverse side of the steering wheel to allow your new Paddles their full range of motion."

Does this mean that they have redesigned the product so that it no longer needs the leather on the back of the steering wheel to be shaved?

Would be interested to hear from those who install the latest design on their R.......me I have to wait until April to find out

Alrighty... mine arrived and I've fitted them to my R.

Mine aren't the new Mk6 friendly ones, so yes, a bit of shaving of the leather is required, hope that doesn't bite me in the rear later. One side needed less than the other though, so YMMV.

The look fantastic when fitted! You'd never know they weren't VW. Functionally, they still click, but a heavier click than stock, due to the extra weight of them. I hardly used the old ones, so it's not something that'll bother me. Unfortunately, I nearly sliced 2 fingers off in the process (my own stupid fault), so I can't give them a real good workout for a few days, but I will on the weekend. In the quick spin I had around the block, it was a very different way to drive

You'll want a fat T20 screwdriver, the screws are in tight and threadlocked; my $2 shop one was too thin and just couldn't do it, off to Bunnings I went!

The clips HPSOV seemed to have trouble with weren't an issue for me. Use the mirror, and a short thin flat head screwdriver, pop one clip off (HPSOV's pic of it is great), just unclip one of the hoops, pull out slightly, rotate the wheel 180' and repeat, came off very easy. The hoops are a challenge, a mirror and good light is essential.

The pin you have to take out is tricky too (especially with 2 bandaged fingers), but just push a bit on one end first, then manipulate the tabs gentle back, then repeat. Be patient on this, and very gentle.

Take note of the wiring in position so you can reset it too when you're done.

Didn't do the fuse, just disconnected the negative terminal and waited 15 mins. On reconnection, had ESP error and time/trip was reset, but the warning disappeared before the end of my driveway!

    Overall, very happy so far.

And a big thank you to Michael Bello from S2TPP, there were issues with my order and the shipping (it went AWOL) and Michael was very responsive, helpful and fixed it up quick-smart, definitely the kind of business person I'd recommend to this community of VW fans

Michael kindly responded to an email from me.

Expected ship date October 15 (as part of 2nd group buy).
He also confirmed that I would be receiving the newer model that should fit the R without problems.

Just to re-iterate the above, Michael also replied to me confirming the same.

    Morning Dubbers,
I received an email from Michael @ S2T this morning with the following details:

    Hello Pat,

We have Shipped all of the Silver Anodized Paddle Shifter Orders from the Group-Buy; however, we are running behind with Shipping the Black Anodized Paddle Shifters.

Due to the recent design change we have been on an extremely tight schedule to Ship the Group-Buy VW Paddles on our Promised time.
The Black Anodized Paddles we received from our local Finishing company was not to our Quality expectations. We were forced to send them back to be Stripped and Re-finished which has caused a delay.

We expect to have all the Black VW Paddle Orders from the Group-Buy to Ship this Thursday, October 21st 2010. We will do our best to expedite all Orders to get the Paddles to you guys ASAP.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thank you for your Patience.

    Kind regards,

    Michael Bello

So FYI, for those who ordered silver you should receive them shortly, those of us who ordered black, a little longer wait.

    Pat,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I'd rather them arrive to me in A1 condition and wait a little longer than some rushed shoddy job.

    Cheers,

    Jayse.

    Greetings Ladies and Gents,

An update this morning from Michael @ S2T re. the group buy of the DSG Paddle Shifters.

    Hello Patrick,

I apologize for the delayed response. We have been really busy here getting the Audi Paddle
Shifter production process perfected and making our final preparations for the SEMA Show.

All VW Paddle Shifter Group-Buy Orders have been Shipped and are on their way to you.

We look forward to some feedback once you get them installed.

    Kind regards,

    Michael Bello

So we should hopefully start seeing these turn up in the next 1-2 weeks.

    Cheers,

    Pat
