Again, thanks to Pat for organising - Excellent work.

Will fit this weekend so hopefully all goes well - will try and post photos.

Good stuff Deano! I think taking your time with the install will be the key to success.

I've rushed installs in the past and ended up scratching plastics/finishes......a stupid mistake I'll never make again!

    Enjoy your post-install cruising guys!!!!

Put mine on yesterday and really had no issues at all. A couple of fiddly bits but nothing too hard. Really only took about 30 minutes.

Just make sure you leave the key in the ignition when you disconnect the battery otherwise you won't be able to turn the wheel!!

Would be happy to help anyone put theirs on if they were worried about it (if they were prepared to come to my place!!!).

Have used them every time I have been in the car since and probably will from now on given how much better they are to use.

That looks really nice Deano! Just give the steering wheel that extra aggressive edge it needed from the outset.

has anyone had luck with Mark 6 GTI. When i use the screwdriver to press down the retaining clips for the airbag/horn cover they simply bounce back when i remove the screwdriver. The youtube clip on a Mark 5 shows these clips staying down when pressed with a flathead screwdriver. Am i not pressing hard enough???

When you press them down, then pull the horn cover out towards you. Then do the same with the other side, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, I did my R (should be the same as a GTI). I posted my experience at the time either earlier in this thread or in the previous group buy thread. You need to basically slide the clip right off the bottom of the tab inside, then it won't just spring back off. You'll know when you've done it right, because if you apply a gentle pulling pressure to the cover at the same time, it should just come off when you get the clip far enough. Took me a while to figure that out, but soon as I did, it was easy. Definitely use a mirror when you're doing it, and very good lighting (I use a $5 3LED headlamp) and you'll see what I mean perfectly.

Search for my experience on a mk6 R install. It was nearly impossible to remove the airbag. You have to leave the screwdriver wedged in there holding the loop over the tab the pull the airbag bit with all your might and then some. It took me hours of trying before I could get the airbag out, and about a week for the bruising on my fingers to go away...

installed mine on the weekend, and it would have to be one of the best mods i have done....the extra weight of the paddles make the shifts so much more tactile....and being on the inside, you get to enjoy them all the time....great product!! thanks for the group buy

Right finally got around to installing them today! Nice and straight forward install which took all of about 30 minutes to do.
Took a picture of with and without the shifter extensions. Makes a huge difference!

Also as some members had previously mentioned, it would definately come in handy to have a stronger spring in place, it seems when the shifter retracts, it doesnt do so the same as the OEM shifters, although expected since the S2T paddles are a lot larger and heavier.

Only time will tell at this stage!

Keep posting pics of your installs peeps!

I felt this at the time of install too, but that's the last time it bothered me... I don't think about it when driving and using them and there's certainly enough spring in the stock springs that they'll work fine
