So you have found the power band.![]()
I was swapping my RCD510 for a RNS510 on the weekend. When I took the RCD510 out of the dash, there was a thick rubber band running horizontally at the very back of the hole in the dash left by the removed RCD unit. It was stretched at least the width of the RCD and disappeared on both sides into the dash, so I could not see where it was anchored. Is this normal? Seems weird that a rubber band could be part of the standard design of a modern day GTI.
PS I purchased my car brand new and had it made to my specs, so I don't think it is the result of any dealer band aid repairs.

Can you get an after market rubber band? Does anybody know which tuner makes the best one?

When I had the RNS510 out of mine to fit the RVC, there were two rubber bands running diagonally down the firewall behind it — is this where the diesel gets its extra torque?
Actually I suspect (don't know for sure, wasn't really interested enough to go and check) I found the antenna.
