Installation is easy to do yourself, just need to buy/borrow a VCDS cable (assuming you have a portable PC (laptop)).
I just did an eBay search and picked one from the UK for around the price others were paying (around $1000-$1200)
Something like this:
OEM Volkswagen VW RNS510 RNS 510 sat nav version F 40GB LED DVD GPS Golf Passat | eBay
That one is setup with USA maps though, so find one that does Australia.
Thanks Ryan :)
Anyone interested in the TV option, a local company will do the TV add on for $2400 using genuine parts (!) Sydney Automotive Workshop. Performance & Tuning for Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Skoda, BMW and Mercedes | European Autotech Sydney. Non genuine installed $1600.
It's a bargain! I always thought it cost more. :?
My 42" home TV didn't cost that much :P
What's the dealer cost now of an rns510?
I'm sure I paid $2k for it for my polo. The dealer took the standard RSC unit in part exchange.
I'm selling a genuine RNS-510 from my Skoda, works perfectly. I replaced the headunit with an 8" Alpine unit so it's not longer needed.
PM if interested, I'm in Melbourne
I saw the other day new DAB+ RNS510 for about 3500 euros
