For those coming late to the situation, these will be available locally and you wont have to import them.

The recent deal done for US peeps was $799 USD a set for 18's. So considering these are local, i'd say $1100 is a great deal.
Sounds good. Looking forward to see how much shipping will be. When I asked VMR about them a few months ago, shipped from America they would work out to be $1400AUD, but that doesn't include GST.

Guess I better start saving my pennies!!

    Thanks for the updates elisiX

It's local shipping mate. ie; The wheels will be $1100 AUD landed here in AU!

So depending on who will distribute them, itll be regular Sydney metro shipping for example.

Good price for a nice looking set of wheels. Do you know what the weight diff is compared to say a stock 18" detroit wheel?

Good point, I still had international shipping rates in my head where weight effects the cost so much!! lol

Unless you are tracking it consistnetly, stripping weight and going comp suspension, dare I say it doesn't REALLY matter how heavy they are?

Updating this thread with wheel discussion as it has the most information.

What is everyone's take on the Carbon Steel with Black wheels (and polished lip)?

I am looking at either the VMR710's mentioned extensively earlier, or the BBS CH-R.

Here's a Carbon Steel GTI on similar colored wheels.

    And Black on VMR710's.

    What are your thoughts?

To be honest I think I like the contrasting VMR's. Black on a dark color might be too much. If the car was CW, i'd be 100% behind the BBS wheels.

I have to agree I think the black on black take away from what are nice bbs wheels and the he vmrs look pretty nice.

I have similar problems with mine, even though it will be a min of 6 mths till I get them dark or light wheels with the TR.... Seriously looking at some OZ wheels black with the red writing can't remember the model something or other GT.

Anyway go the VMRs they'll look sweet

I think black wheels really only look good on a very bright colour - white, yellow etc. However, I feel that black, whether on the wheels or on the car body, can 'hide detail', which is something I don't like.

Rather than straight black, I prefer 'diamond cut' or 'shadow chrome' or things like that. If if it has black spokes, then have a chrome rim, or body coloured rim etc.

On my Tornado Red MKV GTI, I had the Oettinger Type RE in 'charcol silver' and then tied the colour into the car by painting the area under the rear valance (between the quad exhaust pipes) in the same colour.

I really like those VMR710's on the black MK6
