Just need to take it easy. Enjoy the car for what it is for a while. :)
Tempe are fine - but they're cheap wheels and tyres.
I remember when a set of 16" 'rims' was about $4000. And they were **** then too.
$4k today buys you a fsking nice set of wheels.

I've bought from Redline before (A set of VMR v708 in Gunmetal). Great to deal with and shipping was just right.
If you want lightweight performance wheels, hard to look past the Neuspeed RS10 Forged 18s at $350 USD/wheel.

I'm thinkin the black eknei's and goodyears from tirerack will be what i end up getting.
Thanks for all the hep guys.
Great tips and real friendly people. Thanks VWwatercooled.
No problem mate. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside haha...
Good to do your research first, just be patient though.
I have my wheels, need to put away for adapters, then find suitable rubber to stretch on them, then wind the coils down, then get a wheel alignment and hope it all works.
Point being it's a science. Enjoy the car for what it is, then get onto your mods slowly. Prob best to dyno it once it's run in before you chip it, try and get an "accurate" measure of where and by how much you have improved too....
This might take oyur mind off your own for a while, help you relax :D lol

Haha nice.
Best of luck with the rest fo the work you need to do.
I didn't bother looking at purchasing overseas so for a bit more, I would have gone for originals. Those VMR wheels look great too! I'm not that fussed about it though.
With regards to selling original wheels, I've always kept them when buying aftermarket. When the time came to selling the car, it didn't make any difference in my experience. I've got the original 16" GTI rims from my MK4 in the garage. I'm gonna sell 'em in the new year, probably for not a lot. I sold my 17" MK6GTI wheels and Bridgestones for $900 and I consider it a bonus instead of them joining the other rims in the shed.
I've always optioned my cars up when buying and in the end get virtually nothing extra when selling. My MK4 was fully loaded and the responses I got from people were "yeah but there are 10 of them selling right now for less and I don't wanna pay for your leather and sunroof and....and....".
This time, I've gone POV PACK (lol!) just to see what'll happen in 3-5 years time.
:)
