Too true, but I would suspect that many enthusiast dubbers contemplating a flash tune use these forums, hence at least one of the "lot" would have posted something either here or on the international forums.

I guess my point is really to anthony_VWJET: mate, we thank you for your contribution, but it's really not all that helpful to post as you did. That sort of fairly vague but nevertheless alarming comment really needs substantiation, if you are trying to help people. Otherwise, it just becomes part of the mythology and half-truths that plague the internet.

So, it would be great if you might, on behalf of us all, have a decent chat to this mate of yours who is a VW mechanic, and try to help all the owners here understand:
    1. which model MkVIs are affected, and how many (is it really common?)
    2. the problems experienced (turbos on which models, or transmissions - DSG or manual)
    3. And if he knows (I understand he may not) which flash tune(s) might be causing the problem?
    4. Maybe you could encourage him to come on here and recount his experiences. THAT would be REALLY helpful!

Yeah I agree with coreying, really good post timbo!

Also, philthy I think you read too far into it dude,

I just honestly feel much more safe with getting APR to do the tuning.

A number of people on this thread have helped me to make a decision on choosing which company to use and everybody has something positive to say about APR.

No one has said anything negative about Revo it's just that a lot more information has been found on APR with current and past customers being extremely happy with their purchase.

Thanks everyone for helping me out!

So long as you're happy with the product you buy and the service you get. Any of the tunes will give you an ear to ear grin compared to the factory setup.

I had my car chipped a couple of months ago and love it. Only problem is now I'm tempted to start looking at exhausts, FMIC's etc. to get the most out of it.

Um can you explain what sort of problems? You can't just post it and not say what happened to your car lol.

GIAC, there's a dealer about 20 mins from where I live, right around the corner from APR actually .

I considered getting a Unitronic tune, ($660 !) but the only distributor at the moment is in Sydney, which was a bit far to go if I had any dramas.

I just tried to keep it on topic as APR was mentioned.

White VR6 has posted several wrong things in her (or his) thread that need correcting (and have NOTHING to do with MKVI GTI's) - but we will leave that to the moderators.

FYI - at the top of the page - the FSI motor (Like the MKV) with the high pressure fuel pump driven from the exhaust cam, they are all the same in the transverse application. The GTI, Pirelli (ED30), S3, TT, TTS & Golf R all use exactly the same pump with the same volume. The APR hpfp has already been fitted to the new Golf R in Europe
Please feel free to correct me on what you think I posted wrong . Yes I am a female , please dont insult me with such comments again .

The new generation of motors is TSI , FSI is the older generation of engines .

Do you have any actual dyno graphs on the improvements the new fuel pump ?

ok then the first lot of problems was with the Revo tune, ended up blowing a turbo the problem to be exact was the propellers in the turbo sheared off and went into the back of the engine, not sure how or why that happened but that problem got me a new engine, turbo and full exhaust.
Prior the turbo blowing up there was no problems or strange noises just bang smoke was poring out the back.
now Vw did all of the warranty work no questions asked which wouldn't have been cheap if you add all of the parts and labour up.

The 2nd lot of problems was couple of months later where i had more turbo problems and ended up blowing another turbo, again no noises or anything strange. Again vw replaced the turbo no questions asked though i might add this time the car was stock as i had got rid of the Revo after my first bit of back luck.

I won't go into details of the other problems that i have had with my car as they aren't related in anyway

Yeah i've heard of a few Tdi's blowing turbo's. must be the weakest link in the car.
I might add I was thrashing the hell out of my car as i was on a watercooled cruise up through wisemans ferry lol.

I just find it strange that vw didn't pick up on the tune when i blew the first turbo either that or they didn't care.
