Is it possible to add one of those cheap LED light strips on the rear of the car and run it directly from the reverse light wiring or via a relay triggered from this wiring ?
On the wagon it could easily fit above the number plate and not be seen.
Reversing out of our driveway is a real PIA at night as you need to reverse parallel with a wall on the drivers side of the car that is very close. With the legal tint it is too hard to see and requires the window to be wound down (great in the rain) to improve the visibility. Even with the window down it is still not very good.
The other side of the car with the reverse light is much better.

JUST CHECK OUT THAT CAMERA ! oooft its like james bond !

i think it can be done by 'tapping' in from the other reverse light.

i have no idea about electronics though but im assuming join the wire to the opposite reverse light and it should work?

member: brimway has done it to his mkv gti... ive seen it and it looks nice.

kinda silly they only have 1 reverse light.

There is no fog light in my R - that space in the drivers side rear light is not used for anything.

As for the video above, I'm sure it's a US spec car where they don't have the rear fog light and instead have the 2nd reverse light.

Have you tried pulling the light switch? That activates a bloody bright rear fog light which could be used to illuminate whatever you need to.

Oh good, so I'm not the only one who has (at least on one occasion) turned on the fog light when reversing at night

I'd be up for replacing the fog light (which does nothing for me) for another reversing light if the process were simple enough.

I've just thought of that idea actually...never done it before I usually only park in well lit areas.

The fog light is good for "emergency" situations - used it once when cruising from Port Campbell back to Melbourne on a bloody foggy night. I reckon it's really worth keeping it there!

    Why? Did you remove it?

So there is no blub in the LED R tail lights???

Couldn't you just turn it "on" thru the VCDS

This is how useless these tinted bulbs are, even with an additional 6 watts it still outputs a fraction of the oem bulb.

The back of the light housing is blanked off but you could open it up with a drill and dremel.
The reflector is likely also missing as well so take that into account, or if there is one there it will be a dummy one so the car looks the same on both sides.
