Hi we have just purchased a Candy 118TSI and would be really interested to see a pic of your car with the GTI skirts.
    Where did you get them?

    cheers

Fog Light upgrade on a 2011 Golf?

Has anyone done an upgrade like this?

As far as I can tell it's a relatively cheap and simple upgrade, requiring a midline or highline CECM to be in place first, and of course needing an upgrade of the lights switch. The kits below use a separate relay instead of the CECM, which is not really what I want to do.

I am looking at it as a good stepping stone to eventually getting the Bi-Xenons in there... but of course I would need a kit that runs through the CECM to take advantage

    Ideas anyone?

    So!

I found an interesting guide, written for a MK6 Jetta in regard to Xenon/CECM/Fog Light upgrades:
    http://njsphoto.com/doctemp/Bi-Xenon%20Upgrade.pdf
    ...from here...
HowTo: OEM Bi-Xenon/OEM Fog Lights/CECM Upgrade/LED Euro Tails in a 2010 Jetta Sedan - VW TDI forum and Audi TDI forum - myturbodiesel.com

I think most of the information should be able to be translated for a 2011 Golf.

It even includes a step or two for replacing the CECM. Has anyone here done that replacement (from Low to Highline)? According to the docs and other research I've done so far, it looks like a lot of re-coding and re-learning is required to allow the sensors to learn again, and even a re-syncing of the key-fobs.

Does anyone have any more information on this as it sounds like a rather tricky mod now, given the potential for things to go pear-shaped!

    Why?

Unless you live somewhere it is actually foggy (like the UK) then I really don't see the point in fog lights.

My past two cars have had them. I have used them once in 7 years.

Ideo; a number of reasons. Firstly, in Melbourne in Autumn and Winter it can get foggy... albeit possibly not quite enough to justify spending money on it. That being said, this is an enthusiast site where people can gather to share ideas about their cars etc. It's something I myself want to do. Case and point.

ian; thanks for the link. This is along the lines of what I was thinking, although the CECM upgrade is going to have to happen first to make these work properly

Has anyone done this mod, and perhaps has any further insight or guidance on it?

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone here has bought the TYC brand fog lights from ECS??
(Volkswagen Golf VI 2.5 > MKVI Golf Reflector Style Fog Lights - Set Of Two)

Keen to get any feedback on them if you have..

They're are also selling the OEM lights for ~$108USD more.. Tossing up between the two..

I've already got the surrounds and wiring etc ready so it's just the lights left to buy.. Retrofit weekend coming up.. Yay.. Wish us luck!
