Only if you could fit the Passat setup, which wouldn't be easy, if possible at all. It has a separate controller, the Golf unit is all contained in the badge/latch assembly and not linked to the steering.

Is there any easy way to find out if my RCD510 has a video input without removing the head unit?

Not as far as I know of. But AFAIK all RCD-510s being made these days do have the video input, even if not specced with the RVC from the factory. Seems to have been that way since around MY11.

I'm thinking about doing this to the new cab since the back end leave a little to be desired in the field of vision department...

Have to keep digging to see where the wiring can actually run in this car since I don't have a roof cavity to play with

Seems like ECS tuning have released at RVC kit with all the wiring for $560 delivered. Looks like a pretty good deal imo. Not sure about the MK6s but the instructions for the MK5 involve cutting off some metal and a wiper blade mount to install this. Coding looks simple enough.

Am I correct in thinking that this kit is somewhat more plug'n'play than previous jobs? Might be just what I need, perfect timing for taking weeks off work.

There is no cutting or removal of the wiper assembly for a Mk6 installation. However the coding is a little more complex.

Yeah I've got your guide saved at home as well for 'just-in-case', but the ECS kit looks a tiny bit easier (don't have to build a loom)

I think I might take the plunge and order the ECS kit and use a combination of their guide and ozmale's. Hopefully the weather will be good (not too hot or raining) when I get around to fitting it.
