    Really ?

Was told by Allianz and dealer and VW that after sale (used), new car extended warranty not available but defaulted to used car factory extended warranty (with exclusions)

yes, really, it's in the terms and conditions of the factory warranty. I'll have a think about it when my car is 2.5 years old.

We looked at the aftermarket factory warranty for our GTI at 2.5 years

Was not worth the money. Too many exclusions

Was totally different to the one we have for the R ?

I believe you've been misinformed by someone then Candyman. The current contact for the extended factory warranty is available in the stickied thread in the MK5 Golf forum. Email the person, they'll quote you and send you the details. As I've stated, you can get it at any time during the new car warranty, and terms and conditions are pretty much the same.

I still have the details from the one we looked at for our MKV (same as one you mention)

My comment applies as is versus the one we got worked into the deal on our R (stand alone about $1400 for 3 years/60000 km)

Not sure why Corey continues to rabbit on about this. The concept of new car and used car warranty is hardly novel. Perhaps he can't follow logic in his special place

Well... if someone actually cares, you can believe Candyman or you can believe the hundreds of forum members who've actually looked in the thread I mentioned and bought the factory extended warranty during the new car warranty period as I described.

A lot depends on how you treat them.

Denlo, who I have already mentioned, are bottom feeders in sales and service. Never again .
I can also highly recommend Paul Wakeling at Cambeltown (not my local dealership, but worth the 45minute drive from sutherland), dealt with a couple of honest characters Paul Hyslop & David Holmes. David actually let me test drive a Gti (on my own) when i told him up front (back in March) that i wasnt ready to buy !!!, and that was my first visit to the dealership.
Sold - CW Mk6 MY12 GTI 5 Door DSG, Sunroof, Leather, RNS510, MDI, Tints, Lakin plate holders, BT & RVC, projected 'GTI' door lights

Current - Lapiz blue mk7 Golf R DSG fully optioned.

funnily enough, i made an inquiry at bill buckle for the polo gti in december and i found them to be pretty crappy. i got a test drive, but i got the feeling they didnt think i was serious. i went with barloworld glen waverly in vic, and they were very good.
ive dealt with the service dept at bill buckle and i admit, they were very helpful. the sales were not. luckily i wont have to deal with them again

Let me start by saying two things:
    1. I love my new golf
    2. I'm sorry my first post is a rip on a rude, obnoxious salesperson.

Recently went golf-hunting and I began with Barloworld... lo&behold we got dealt the Lorelei card (salesperson - she's been mentioned a few times already in this thread so i feel like this wasn't just a one off) .

After, making it clear that she had better things to do at her desk than walk a customer out to a car and show them around it, she was rude enough to tell us that we should come back another day and drive the car when we are ready to do a deal, and not waste her time if we aren't serious.

Stupidly, I returned. After being offered a well-below average valuation on my old car, and a price (full retail on a new car) I questioned her offer of a deal on the prior visit. As many other forum users have pointed out, I receive better service at maccaz for a $5 happy meal (hey, you even get a free toy) - Lorelei was kind enough to offer a full tank of petrol. Oh, forgive me, how ungracious am I? Im about to spend circa $40k and you are kind enough to chuck in a $60 tank of petrol.... I mean "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!" ... at that point I walked out.

Called another dealer, told him what I wanted, asked him how much. I drove over an hour to get there to be greeted by possibly one of the nicest dealership teams I've ever dealt with and bought a new golf.

the deal was nearly $8000 better.

i'll be darned if I ever go near of the Barloworld Sales department ever again... and if see that lady around town: i'M gonna have to go for a swim in an ice cold pool because my blood will be boiling.

    rudest person I ever met.

in saying all of that I can highly recommend the team at Bill Buckle VW ( Brookvale ) - they found me a car matched to my spec, through in floor mats, told me a reasonable delivery time frame, delivered the car before it was due, gave me a fantastic trade in on my car and price on the new car, and wait for it..... drumroll... even delivered the car with a full tank!

    Thanks for your time...
and here is to Bill Buckle

I actually stopped in there a few weeks ago looking at a Polo with a friend.

Unhelpful. Not arrogant like Barloworld. Just didn't care.

As usualy, it's salesman not dealer I guess.

Exactly. There are good and bad salemen. There are also different types of salesmen for different types of customers. Much like husbands and wives I guess
