Hey guys going to be buying the new Jetta to add to our mini VW fleet in 1-2 months. The sales people I dealt with at Chatswood Classic Cars are all gone. Would it be best to deal direct with Tony as most of you seem to like his service?

Angry more recent experience with Barloworld

    Hi
Let me start by saying two things:
    1. I love my new golf
    2. I'm sorry my first post is a rip on a rude, obnoxious salesperson.

Recently went golf-hunting and I began with Barloworld... lo&behold we got dealt a salesperson - who has been mentioned a few times already in this thread so i feel like this wasn't just a one off.

After, making it clear that she had better things to do at her desk than walk a customer out to a car and show them around it, she was rude enough to tell us that we should come back another day and drive the car when we are ready to do a deal, and not waste her time if we aren't serious.

Stupidly, I returned. After being offered a well-below average valuation on my old car, and a price (full retail on a new car) I questioned her offer of a deal on the prior visit. As many other forum users have pointed out, I receive better service at maccaz for a $5 happy meal (hey, you even get a free toy) - Lorelei was kind enough to offer a full tank of petrol. Oh, forgive me, how ungracious am I? Im about to spend circa $40k and you are kind enough to chuck in a $60 tank of petrol.... I mean "ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!" ... at that point I walked out.

Called another dealer, told him what I wanted, asked him how much. I drove over an hour to get there to be greeted by possibly one of the nicest dealership teams I've ever dealt with and bought a new golf.

the deal was nearly $8000 better.

i'll be darned if I ever go near of the Barloworld Sales department ever again... and if see that lady around town: i'M gonna have to go for a swim in an ice cold pool because my blood will be boiling.

    rudest person I ever met.

in saying all of that I can highly recommend the team at Bill Buckle VW ( Brookvale ) - they found me a car matched to my spec, through in floor mats, told me a reasonable delivery time frame, delivered the car before it was due, gave me a fantastic trade in on my car and price on the new car, and wait for it..... drumroll... even delivered the car with a full tank!

    Thanks for your time...
and here is to Bill Buckle

I found Bill Buckle good to deal with.

Actually, I found every VW dealer I spoke with (trying to find a dealer stock rather than order) to be helpful.

Except for barlo. I would never, ever buy a car from them, and I will actively discourage anyone I speak with after a VW from dealing with them.

    Rude, surly, arrogant and unpleasent.

Ideo, funny, I had the opposite experience.

Oliver Lum at Barloworld mascot was very helpful, gave very competitive prices up front, answered questions and was very happy for me to take it for a spin. No hard sell, no pressure, just good service. After sales very good, and he threw in a free umbrella. And gave me a discount as good as anyone else here got on their R.

My stepmum went to her local dealer in brookvale and was given a non-competitive price (then again she didn't bargain very well) ... around $1900 worse than barloworld's over the phone price for her 103TDI.

After-sales was terrible brookvale -- salesman handed us to a contracts guy who kept us waiting for ages, and tried the hard sell on the extended warranty. Lied that it had to be done before the car left the dealership. If you lie to me you lose all credibility. Add to that that it took over two hours to collect the car thanks to lots of waiting around and the salesman's run-through of the car's features (considerable amounts of it were incorrect).

    Thumbs up for Bill Buckle

Best dealer experience I have had and service dept are outstanding

A lot depends on how you treat them.

Denlo, who I have already mentioned, are bottom feeders in sales and service. Never again .

There are at least extended warranty offers I know of

    1. Dealer provided extended warranty - forget it
    2. New car factory extended warranty at time of sale (backed by Allianz for example) - well worth it
    3. Used car factory extended warranty - lots of exclusions but can be useful

Note that this is available at any time during the initial warranty period, not just at the time of sale.

I totally agree, I cannot recommend Denlo at all. Customer service post contract signing was appalling. The salesman lied to me on the phone about delivery date, I asked him to send me a NADCON screenshot and the date showed a month after what he just quoted me on the phone.

The day I was supposed to pick the car up again a big stuff up. Turns out he didnt book my car at all for that day and I waited until 5pm that day to hear back from him having rung Denlo 3 times during the day. I felt happy as I gave them the worst feedback in the dealer survey and tell all my friends never to buy from Denlo.

And wow another thing Denlo lied to me about! They tried to back their own dealer supplied warranty over the VW factory extended warranty!!!!

Have met with this Lorelei sales person last week as well, wasn't too friendly and snobbish.
When I got there, not knowing who were were meant to see, I saw her just walked passed us through the door without even looking at us, let alone asking if we were being serviced.
