Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a VW salesman in Sydney? Someone you can trust, knowledgeable and generous (if it exists...)
I'm after the best deal on a Golf Vi 118TSI with options.
Thanks !!

Why limit yourself to Sydney? I found David Crofton from Central Coast Volkswagen to be a honest and straightforward guy. I test drove a TSI, a TDI and a GTI and talked at length for literally hours - I can't remember the last time I spent 4 hours with a salesman of anything...
Regards,
- Anthony.

That is good information, you can also consider Moss Vale and Woolongong I spose.
I had a similar experience as Nath but if I was to do It over, I'd go with David on this forum.

I originally spoke to a young salesman, whom I think was new to the job, at the Chatswood, NSW dealership a few months back. He was helpful and arranged test drives in the TSI and TDI. He gave me the recommended retail prices but gave no indication that he would give any kind of deal as the MkVi were new to the country.
I later spoke to someone at Barloworld in Mascot, NSW who offered me a corporate discount on a car but he was a little pushy.
I had a quick test drive of a GTI with DSG at Brookvale, NSW and the first bloke I saw really made me feel I was wasting his time. The sales manager was definitely more interested and said he would give me a 'bit of a deal' but couldn't do much because GTI's were scarce as hen's teeth.
I then contacted David from Central Coast VW in Gosford, NSW and, although I have not even met the guy, I have ordered my new car. I did have a test drive but it was his day off. The other crew, including the manager, were nothing more than helpful, especially Wayne. The only downside was that they didn't let me drive the car without one of them with me unlike at Brookvale. Therefore I couldn't give it much but I really only wanted to check whether the DSG was as jerky as I've read.
I guess the bottom line is...the bottom line. I'm happy with the deal I was offered and it's enough for me to travel over an hour from my home for the car. The upside is that I'll have a one hour drive home from the dealership when I pick it up.
I'll reiterate that I haven't even met David but speaking to him on the phone he sounds like a nice bloke.

Bought a 103 TDI Golf VI via Alan Bell at Moss Vale Motor Group. We started looking in February and he advised us of the impending arrival of the Mk VI and, although he had Mk V stock at very good prices, said he had driven the Mk VI and he suggested we wait. Very fair guy, not pushy and we were very happy with the deal. Also a great place for a test drive. We had the car for about an hour and did some town driving including Bowral's answer to the suspension torture test - Merrigan St, some twisty stuff and a run out to the Hume Highway at Sutton Forest and then back via Berrima. Bit of everything including freeway which gave us a good chance to evaluate the car. We actually took a 118TSI at the same time and swapped a couple of times during the hour.
When it came to my CC, also went to Alan who , although he could not supply a car at the time, checked around the various dealers for me and gave me a pretty good indication of what I could expect to pay.
Moss Vale purchasing and delivery experience was much better than my Sydney CC purchase and I have to say that test driving a car in Sydney by comparison is really a bit of a waste of time -- unless you use it to decide what not to buy.
So I would recommend the trip South to Moss vale. Nice drive and not much more than an hour from Sydney.
But be warned. Life is a little more relaxed out this way with dealers closed Saturday afternoons and Sunday.
