VWA only to me is a given, but they were heavily implying that they may not repair under warranty any parts etc. that another dealer touches.

Few other lies was that if I didn't buy VW insurance then I would get non-genuine parts in repairs ...

That their in-house paint protection is of a superior quality that can only be applied to brand new paint, and that its absolutely impossible to apply it after accepting delivery.

And that financing through them actually makes the car cheaper. (I'm sure it suits people in many situations, but making blanket statement like that to me is very irresponsible)

    Bunch of muppets.

I also got my car from Denlo. From what I understand, Inchcape (the company that runs Denlo Parramatta & Chatswood Classic) offer a complimentary 2 year extended warranty on top of the standard 3 year VW warranty on new cars sold. One of the conditions in order for them to honour any warranty claims in the extra 2 year period, is to only have your car serviced exclusively by them from new (so either Chatswood or Parramatta).

During the first 3 years, you can bring your car for warranty repairs to any VW service centre. Keep in mind if you decide not to go to Inchcape, you forfeit the extra 2 years offered by them..

This is all noted in the paperwork the dealer gave you with the car.. Take a look at it.. From memory the ‘extended warranty’ is not fully comprehensive, they only cover some things, and I think you can only claim something up to $2000 during that time..

MODS: Can this be moved to a warranty thread?

Yeap I remember discussing the extended warranty with them, essentially service-store credit ... to me the policy had too many provisions for me to put any value on.

Will see how I go with my first service etc. with them.

I've previously spoken to (I think) the manager at the Chatswood service centre, forgot his name (would love to know if anyone knows), he seemed nice, very different to his sales counterparts.

You can only bring it back to the dealer that you bought from for the extended warranty. Unless you bought VW extended warranty (extra cost on top of the car) then it covers all VW dealerships. Might also include VW road side assist (correct me if i'm wrong)

Haven't had any experiences with chatswood service so best of luck. Let us know how you go. Just before they say you "need" to do anything ask on the forums and see if everyone experienced similar need for parts change at the same mileage.

Completely agree, and the fact that you needed to do a 7500km "service" with them (no oil change) made me bin the Inchape warranty.

    +2 don't go to Chatswood.

I got shuffled around to 3 people who were all introduced as some sort of manager. Ended up with Tony - nice enough guy to have a chat with but dishonest about the pricing ("Corporate discount doesn't apply to the GTI") and then offered me a deal $1,600 worse than what his colleague offered over the phone and said the original quote was a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes but $45,000 for a base model dsg gti with dynaudio isn't out-of-bounds (he re-offered $46,600 firm). Also told me that prices (from this forum) on Polo Gtis were impossible and would result in a loss (there's no way of confirming every price is legitimate but for the most part they're consistent and realistic).

I'm fine with dealers drawing a line in the sand or not bargaining. They want to make more money - that's ok. Just spare me the bull$hit please.

Ah dealer talk.. It's pointless human discourse.

I have just bought a 118TSI from Chatswood Classic and found them really good to deal with. I only ended up there because I found the customer service at Barlowworld in Mascot so average that I did not want to buy a car from them.
I dealt with Daniel and he was great.
I pick up my car on Tuesday!!!!

I second that : David, as mentioned is a rare breed of car salesmen that are straight up and very helpful. He was honest about what he could and could not do when negotiating the best deal. I am fortunate that live on the Central Coast as well, but even if you don't it would be worth the trip to deal with him.
    Good luck in your dealings
