Just bought a ex-demo Golf Wagon TDI tonight from Johan at VW Wangara.

Great guy, very pleasurable to deal with. I think the price we paid was reasonable and would recommend Johan if anyone wants someone a bit different than the standard loser car dealer.

Hi do you mind saying how much was the discount for the demo model compare to RRP? And what is the milage?

I'll probably get laughed at for getting ripped off or something....

But we paid $32,000 for a 2010 103TDI Comfortline wagon, which has bluetooth, mdi and metallic paint. Also included tinting and floormats.

It had 8000km (not really a demo, it was the service managers car apparently but don't know if thats the whole truth) and is 8 months into its 3 year warranty.

It was a $9000 discount off list price, which would be fantastic for a new car, but obviously this is a used/ex-dealer car.

    We are happy with it.

Took it for a test drive (by ourselves, no dealer in the backseat talking crap...) and loved the drive, finish, feel etc.

We also test drove a 118TSI they had for $31,990 but we preferred the feel of the diesel (and the fuel economy).

    Picking it up on Friday.

don't you just drive it off the lot right there and then?
I thought when you buy a car you sign the contract and drive off the same day. Am I wrong?

I guess we could have if we really wanted to, but it was 6:45pm (they were supposed to close at 6) and the tint isn't on the car yet.

It was easier for us to get it on Friday because we can just catch the train there after work and drive home in it.

I took delivery of my Tornado Red GTI Adidas yesterday evening from Chatswood Classic. The salesperson I dealt with was Jadd, but I also had dealings with a whole stack of others there including the Sales Manager, Tony, and even the Dealer Principal, Greg. I had visited quite a few Sydney dealers, and found there follow-up very poor. I gathered this was a lot to do with the limited GTI stock at the moment, but I was ready to buy. Despite just missing out on a demo Adidas that they had, Jadd tried hard to source a vehicle a do a deal that I couldn't refuse. I found all other Chatswood Classic really helpful and easy to deal with.

Can you explain what you mean by 'feel'? Was it the extra torque? Some people have mentioned turbo lag on the diesel.

Not sure specifically, the diesel just felt more solid whereas the petrol felt almost too zippy and touchy.

Picked up our car last night, Johan wasn't there so we got to deal with John.

He picked us up from the train station, showed us through the car, introduced us to the service manager etc.

He is definitely an interesting character but made our first experience with VW continue to be great.

One thing he did forget was to give us the missing bottle opener from the centre console, but spoke to Dermot today who is going to post one out.

Our whole experience with VW has been fantastic, and I am looking forward to this vehicle and building a good relationship with this online community and VW Wangara.

    Thanks guys!
