Rear View Mirror Clip broken

Noticed on the weekend that the plastic clip that fits around part of the rear view mirror and clips into the roof lining has broken somehow!

The right hand side photo shows part of the clip is completely sheared off - so doesn't stay up against the roof lining.

Would this be covered under warranty? repositioning the mirror doesn't create enough force to break this clip.

I am guessing that the mirror would need to be removed to replace the clip.

This same thing happened on a mate's GTI as well. Just take it in to your local dealer, and they should replace the broken part under warranty.

Thanks for your help. Will try get to the dealer this week to get it fixed.

It is a bit of a weird one though, my sister has a MY12 118TSI and whilst the clip isn't broken in her car, it is loose and doesn't seem to clip into the roofline at all.
