    Rear bumper color difference issue

Hello guys, I acquired a Golf GTI show room demo the day before yesterday, united grey color, today while looking at the car I noticed an obvious color difference on the rear bumper. the color of rear bumper is darker than the rest of the car, meanwhile no color difference can be identified from the front bumper. is it normal for united grey or does that mean it was damaged before and re-paint has been applied.

please help me guys for what should I do.(cannot found any information about this problem so I opened an new thread

Slide undernieth and see if there's any obvious tampering of screws and trim clips.

Also, paint on plastic can look different to metal. Renault Clio sports with the front quarter panels being plastic were notorious for being a different shade. Several shades different in fact.

My Golf is united grey and in some lights you can see the front and rear bumpers are a darker shade of grey and less metallic. By car was brand new and has not had any accidents etc, so thats just the way it is.

If you click the link in my signature, it will take you to my car diary thread. Plenty of pics in there of the car that you can look at, although not sure if the camera picks up the differences in colour.

I find it most noticeable when parked at night in a carpark, and the fluro lights are shining on the car. Fluro lights are great for picking faults in paintwork. During the daytime, i cant see much of a difference, but in low light situations its more noticeable.

A neighbor bought a Corolla recently and the rear bumper had been sprayed (badly) and was a different shade.

Turned out had been bumped in transit and touched up.

Dealer paid to have it done properly by a painter of our choice

Might pay to make some enquiries

Many new cars have different colour bumpers. Commodores are the worst off the top of my head.
There is always the possibility it was damaged and repaired at the dealer though. It happens more often than people realise. I'm not surprised anymore when I repair someones "new" car and find signs of a respray

^ this is true. I worked at a Holden dealership about 12 yrs ago and it wasn't uncommon for bumpers/side skirts/spoilers etc to get scratched when coming off the car transporters. And sometimes larger items like bonnets or boot lids would have marks on them that couldn't be polished out, so had to be resprayed.

My wife's younger brother recently bought a near new (2yr old) Commodore SV6 in that horrible green that's almost fluro, and when he brought it around to show us, i could see immediately that the whole passenger side had been resprayed (i used to be a car detailer, so i have an eye for picking resprays/repairs). You could see the orange peel was much more noticeable, the colour was slightly darker, and the flaking/peeling clear coat near the mirror was a little bit of a giveaway. Also things like "fish eyes" in the clear coat.

And a friend recently bought a Nissan Tiida (shoot me now) for his fiance, brought it around and the rear end/rear passenger quarter panel has been repaired and resprayed badly. The bumper wasn't even aligned correctly. Once again the paint was darker, and you could see where the colour and clear coat was "blended" into the roof area. You could also see the rear quarter was warped if you looked at the right angle.

I offer to come and help them find a good tidy car, but they don't take me up on the offer. Oh well, they are the ones who end up with a crappy car, not me.
