RE: How much will cancelation fee be?

Apologies for causing such a disturb in the forum. I havne't visited for two days, and by the time I am back the thread is closed.

Just to clarify, my financial situation changed since I signed up the contract. I've talked to my dealer and talked to the sales manager face to face. All in peaceful mood. I've also written a nice email to them to explain things. They haven't got back to me as they said. I should chase up if they dont contact me tomorrow.

And I always wanted a golf and am still thinking of a golf now.. I am sure my dealer wont be too harsh on me .. Peace!

As I see it, the maximum you owe is, as per the contract, $3000. You have paid a deposit of $500, so they could ask you for another $2500 and keep the car. They can then sell the car and make more money but, you will be a pissed off customer, and they have to try to extract the $2500 from you. That can take time and money.
If it was me, i would book a time to meet with the most senior person you can, and explain that due to circumstances beyond your control, you cannot afford the car. There will probably be a date that you have to pay, and if you do not then they have to chase you to get the money. It might be worth seeing what they say. if they don't offer you what you want, you could try offering them some money up front, for example another $500 right then and there to allow you out of the contract. This means they get $1000 for the breech and you save $2000.
In the alternative they have to chase you for the $2500, and as your circumstances have changed, there is a chance they will get nothing extra. In any case they would probably outsource debt collection, reducing their take of $2500 even further and probably taking months, if they ever get the money. I am sure you are an honest guy, but there is always a risk that the dealer will not get their money, and a dollar in the hand is worth two or three on a promise from a guy down on his luck.
There is nothing wrong with negotiating but I don't see that you have much to offer except a speedy settlement. I hope you ordered a fairly standard car and not a purple lowered Golf with 20" wheel and $15k worth of bling, as the easier they can shift the car the easier it will be to accept a deal.
The other alternative is to take the car and immediately try to flip it to another buyer privately, but I reckon you might take a bigger loss than $3000.

    Why chase them up

Why chase them up. If you don't hear from them it looks like your worst result is that you lose your $500 deposit.

Another alternative. What does the dealer have in the way of earlier Golfs. Maybe use your $500 as part payment on a low Km used car.

You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

I'll leave this thread open so the OP can post up the final resolution but have a look at coreying's post above.
