Same issue previously.... And I was meant to get the service campaign before delivery but it wasn't done until 15,000km service! Shaking a spray can noise and then Cloud of grey blue smoke. Mentioned it at one service and was told it was normal (wtf?) and had the service manager assured me even his missus 118 did it so not to worry - I must look like an idiot.
Have to say that since I had other warranty issues fixed - think it stopped around the 2nd water pump, months and months and months ago - no more rattle or smoke... Funny that.
Since the service I have been getting it serviced else where and only recorded problem was a miss communication between the ecu and the gearbox ... Had the recall work done on the DSG but that was at the dealer.
Car still running fine, oil useage within 'guidelines' and I check it every week.
Love the brand, just think There are more lemons than good 118's!!

I never got to the bottom of this particular issue. I started that thread about the "blow up" but even after the new injector i still had the tick tick... Plume issue. Bel's description is accurate... Sounds like a ball bearing shaking spray can before you get the plume.

Over time mine stopped, but it is disconcerting to read your frequency is increasing. I agree with the others and book it in to look at, just for the record. This is so that you can point to having reported the issue prior to the warranty running out, and they will honour it.

Also do what i did... Give them the sob story you are worried they will leave you unsupported after the warranty expires and they should take you more seriously. That might goad them into action in investigating further. My sob story got them to replace my clutch a second time after refusing to do so 2 times.

Btw i thought vw had retrospective 5 year. warranties on engine and drivetrain?

As to the comment on buying another car instead, i vowed never to buy another VAG car rather than be tempted to a Golf R... Even though i love the tech and general build quality to bits. However, my BMW is giving me issues... Fortunately none are mechanical... But after 9 months i still have excessive road noise. Noisier than even a cheap Kia. Moral of the story... After my mk5 i should have learned to not buy a south african made car.
