    The sensors look different.
What hooba was saying, is that 'Rear Park Distance Control' is no longer a factory option on any Golf model.
You either get a dealer fitted accessory (for which I have no information on the specifications, or even if all the dealers are using the same kit), or you get the Park Assist factory option, which includes the Front & Rear plus two side sensors and then allows the car to also park itself.

Rear PDC used to be an $800 option on the MKV cars. Park Assist is only $1400 - so Park Assist is pretty good value in comparison.
If you really just want the rear, then consider the RVC (Rear View Camera) for $500 factory fitted option instead.

    Corey,

I wasn't replying to hooba's post. I was just posting information. If I was - I would have quoted his post.
I have the factory installed PDS on the Pirelli and recently purchased original VW PDS and installed them on my GT - the sensors are different. Just sharing the information.

    Aah ok, no problem.

Still, I just wanted to make it clear for other less informed readers, as this is the MK6 section after all

The RPS one purchases from the VW spare parts is the same as the ones I purchased for the GT - which the thread starter most likely has.

The sensors (hardware) used on the Park Assist system on the Mk6s are the same as the RPS sensors on the Pirelli. The factory sensors are slightly recessed into the bumper bar as opposed to sitting flushed on the bar when mounted (like the OEM dealer fit ones from spareparts).

I've got the RPS also. I don't believe they are genuine VW parts as the dealer said the only factory senors come with park assist. Strange if you ask me.

For those with only RPS, do you only get the beep coming from one side (speaker)? Mine only beeps from over my left shoulder regardless of where the obstacle is.

It's a little disconcerting as I normally look toward where the beeps are coming from. My other car has RPS and it beeps via whichever side has the obstacle. This also confirms to me that it is not a genuine VW part (regardless of the cost the dealer tries to charge).

I also find you dont need to move very far between the initial beep and the flat tone (I reckon it starts beeping too late and then becomes very conservative in the safety distance measurement).

    Gday Fellas,

My polo has the same as fatboys,
sound is coming from over my left hand shoulder only, I had a look behind the bumper and there is no way these are a Genuine VW part, they are inserted from the outside of the bumper with a much larger face than I expected compared to the obviously factory fitted ones I've seen in the past,

I was expecting them to be fitted thru the canbus also and have directional sound dependant on the side of the car closest to the object, but they most definatly are not.

My Vehicle order receipt clearly states "Genuine Reverse Sensor" at a value of $761.00.

I will point out it does NOT say "Genuine VW reverse sensor" this is most probably VW Australia going the cheaper and easier option not having to import genuine VW sensors and not having to program the canbus( extra labour) and still charging the full amount, not nessarily the dealers doing this though I could be wrong?,

    My 2c

    Regards

    MAD

PS: sound only from the LHS due to revese light only on LHS of VW, the easiest wiring for them is straight to the reverse light,
