Parking Sensors for the 'R' enquiry

My dealer is telling me that Parking sensors are optionable for the 'R' here BUT they are only for the rear, NO fronts... Huh???

Does that sound right to you? I thought that for the 'R' its either you do not get the sensors at all, and if can opt for it, its for Front AND Rear....

Anyway someone can verify this for me or at least direct me to a reliable source where I can get a definite info.

And from what I had read about the 'R' in the web, when parking sensors are mentioned, its for BOTH front and rear.

I have never heard of REAR only sensors for the golf 'R'. Scirocco yes, but not the Golf 'R'.

However, I did noticed that in the UK brochure (Feb 2010) for the Golf 'R', there is only a mentioned about Rear parking sensors and not front ones though.....

    Anyone? any advice?

Your dealer is the exact reason I want to start working for VW, the R comes standard with front and rear parking sensors here in Australia.

Clicky and scroll to page 40.

My R has them front and back. i think you also get the car displayed on the standard touchscreen that shows the distance to objects in live time (not just the sounds/beeping)

Hi mate. We're all in Australia. This forum is specifically for Australian VW fans. Whilst international VW fans are also welcome, please note that no one here will be able to confirm what the standard and optional items are for Brunei. I suggest if you don't trust your salesman that you contact another dealership.

Again just to clarify over in this thread...

I know this is an Aust. forum specifically for Aust. VW fans...

However I wasn't / am not asking anyone here to confirm about standard trims and options of the Brunei 'R'. That is just plain silly...

What I intended (still) to find out is whether any VW fans, especially the 'R' fans/owners, regardless of region, if they have come across/heard or seen what I had been informed by my VW dealer here, which unfortunately for me is the one and only VW rep for my country.

I like to gather and compile all my findings and facts before going back in and insist that they MIGHT be mistaken. It certainly does not help when they are adamant about what they had told me and somehow seem 'super' reluctant to contact VW Wolfsburg to confirm.

Well I can confirm that I haven't seen any pictures of the Golf R not having park sensors (front or rear).
However, the front park sensors are "add on" boxes which fit into the grills. They're not specifically integrated in the bumper. I would say that the only reason to do this is so that they didn't have to build two separate bumper molds for with or without front sensors....

The thing is though (and sorry, I'm not trying to be mean or difficult), each individual country negotiates their own specifications with the factory/VW Germany. So if there is no "VW office" in Brunei, and that dealer is the only one, then they must be the people who have performed this negotiation and they could in fact be very right. It doesn't matter what other countries have if they've not requested front PDC in their spec.

I stand by my response even though it was in direct relation to the ADM Golf R, but I fail to see how "gathering" results from an Australian based forum helps you when it's evident that (and as Corey made clear) each country has their own vehicle specifications.

It would be like an American asking us what features our base Jetta comes with as standard, and them leaving green with envy once they've compared it to their own trim.

Is there are "Brunei" spec? Or can your dealer order any country spec?
    Is BRunei LHD or RHD?
