Battery drain on RCD510 from drive-in cinema?

    Hi all,

I just had a quick question. I drive a mk6 GTI w/ RCD510 installed and wanted to know, would anybody else be able to comment on whether I would be able to last a 2-hour movie at a drive-in cinema with the radio turned on (which also means the large display touch screen would also stay on) and still be able to have enough power left in my battery to start the car to drive home?

Would anybody be able to share any of their experiences (if any)? Nobody has had to jumpstart their car after a night at the drive-ins? Also curious to know whether the power usage would be same for RNS510?

    Cheers

There is no ACC on the Golf. So you can operate the RCD/RNS510 without anything else in the car being on. You just press the power/volume button and it'll run, albeit only for 30 mins. You can then turn it on again... and again, and again (lol... for a two hour movie). A new car will easily last two hours and start fine.

I've had music playing for 2 to 3 hours on my RNS510 with Dynaudio in my R and it still started as quick as it'd normally would.

It's a pain in the bum it turning off every 30 minutes... we go to the drive in pretty regularly and even our Pioneer unit turns off Otherwise it's all good

(On the upside we can also turn the screen off so it's not shining away and distracting you).

You can turn off the RNS-510 screen.... it's under "extras" from memory
