Better off either getting a ventureshield/3m wrap or a car detail every 6 -12 months.
Hi Guys,
Went to VW dealer today and they mentioned the paint protection, I think it was about $800.
Is this at all worth it?
Thanks

I believe OziCozi do it in Vic.
Also www.invisiblecarbras.com.au
Just google ventureshield/3m and the area you live in.

You are much better off buying some good quality care care products and looking after the car yourself. Plenty of useful info about "what, when and how" here and other online sites.

Dealer paint protection is usually just a pretty ordinary quality paint sealant priced as if it was made of magic ingredients (and is frquently one of the highest profit margin options on a new car, which is why they often have a "special" person to try to sell it to you).
If you can't/won't do it yourself spend your money at a GOOD detailer, your car will still be better off.

OziCozi also are in NSW: http://www.ozicozi.com.au/
UniversalTint are also in NSW: http://www.universalshield.com.au/
My workmate had his A4 done at OziCozi are the work was excellent. He got the 'standard kit' for $695 I believe. Other people have used UniversalTint to have their entire car covered - though it would be significantly more for the entire car.
To answer the OP's question. Dealer's "paint protection" product is completely worthless. If you want to give away your money, please give it to a charity where it will at least go to some good use!.
3M Paint Protection Film, or Ventureshield StoneGuard (same thing, same company) is so good you can even be in a minor car accident and may not need the car to be resprayed as the PPF protects the paint that well - all you may need is some panel beating.![]()

to give you an idea about paint protection...
a friend whom runs a detialing business in perth does the overflow work from Tinta Car whom have the contract for BMW in Vic Park
BMW charget north of 2k for 'paint protection'
...its a cheaper chinese product that actually costs 300 clams
paint protection = epic fail/gimick
get it done after market, if at all...IMO regulary polish/wax does the same thing
