P0441 Error Code - Evaporative Emission System Inoccrect Purge Flow

    Hi Guys,

Got an engine light on today and I plugged in a code reader and got the above.

Any suggestions re what I can do to get it fixed without going to the dealer? Anything that will damage my car?

I have noticed my car in the last few months seems to be running much hotter than last summer - e.g. after a trip, the engine fan keep running for a lot longer and more regularly than it used to after I turn off the ignition, even on easy trips where I don't go over 3K revs.

Just popped the hood and it is very hot under there still, 2.5 hours after a 15 km low rev trip, and the ambient temperature is 27C.

    Possibly related?

P0441 Error Code - Evaporative Emission System Inoccrect Purge Flow

I had this but with no engine light. Wont damage car but found at idle then go to rev the car it would stumble ever so slightly. Vw changed charcoal canister and n80 purge valve under warranty. Then it happened again but when I cleared the fault myself it fixed it. So if you can clear the fault and see if it comes back.

Find my feeds and there is some discussion on this fault.

Is that the only fault thrown mate? Generally related to the charcoal canister valve being faulty or if there is other faults thrown at the same time, a possible pcv issue.

Just read all your post, funny enough after the new purge valve was fitted I was coming home in heavy traffic in very hot weather it happened again. Cleared the fault and not come back since.

I can clear the code and see if the sensors detect an issue again. No problems except the car seems to be running hot as mentioned above with fans going long after easy trips, and the oil a couple of degrees hotter than last summer.

I'm outta warranty, but at least I won't be charged for reading and clearing the code as I could do that much by myself.

Code self cleared today after being on for a couple of days... so if it was the solenoid, it opened/closed at the right time in the last trip.

Cool. It still might need clearing as it could still be a sporadic fault like mine.

We have seen this happen when the fuel tank is "over filled" ie - to the brim, then when things get a little warm, the fuel (and excess fumes) can expand back to the evap system & can take a while to clear.

It is certainly one thing to keep in mind
