Hey guys
Got a 2011 Mk6 118TSI Golf; got 92k on it plus a replacement engine with 30k on it (after my CAVD dooked itself).
Trade in value isn稚 great neither private so I知 gonna keep it for much longer. I did the plugs, oil and filter about 15k ago. But seeing I知 gonna keep it I should get a proper service. I知 not going to a stealership; I normally go to a local mechanic with our other cars but am wondering should I just take it to a German specialist who can rip a TSI apart quickly rather than old mate who痴 gonna take longer and this more labour.
Just wanted your experience; I値l do the basics myself but when that alternator light is intermittent...is it gonna take the Hilux expert 5 hours to pull it off?
Cheers
Take it to a VAG (VW) specialist. They know the these cars inside out and know what to look for and what is expected to give issues coming up. Prevention is 100% better than a cure for an older VW.
On the northside of Brisbane go to German Auto in Geebung. Others may be able to help you in other areas.
Note that the 118TSI is a ticking time bomb and will eventually break again. Then again, all things break eventually, so you may be lucky and get some decent mileage before it goes.
