Undoubtably the UK will get them before us, but from what I've read the 125 common rail hasn't hit actual production as yet. It is planned though!

Is that the twin turbo model or is that just an idea VW are toying with on paper ?

the gt in the uk is only a specification of trim, rather than motor designation in australia. so they're actually both 103kw diesels. except the mk6 runs common rail injection.

Russ at this stage it's a single turbo 125kw as in the link above, but there is a possibility of a twin turbo beastie. Guess what the engineers hhave come up with, and what global profits allow remains to be seen.

Oh and the UK have had the 170hp GT diesel available for some years now, certainly longer than Aus.

It'll be interesting to see how this new 125kw CR donk is received. Almost identical specs to the current engine but with significantly better economy... More car like sound...

I had the i30 CRDi before I got into my 2.0L TDI and personally I find the PD engine noise nicer than the CRDi. I suppose its personal preference, little bit rougher, but I like that sound

I just put it down to having more angry killer wasps (kW) under the bonnet

What made you to change i30 for Golf?
How does the fuel economy compare?
