Has the oil dropped on the dipstick? I doubt it's oil. Much more likely to be condensation and soot from a rich mixture during warm up.

Wondering if any owners of a new GTI Mk6 have noticed quite a bit of black burnt oil spewing from the exhaust. I've owned mine for just under a week, and the bottom lip of the chrome exhausts have been cleaned twice! I've also noticed specks of black oil building on my garage floor where the exhausts are.
Is this normal? I know they will burn oil early on their life (and new petrol turbo cars generally will), but it seems a little excessive.
Hoping it will settle down.
PS. just had the waste gate clip installed to rid it of the rattle. 5 days in and I've been back to the dealer once for a repair. Not the best of starts.

You're right, it's more soot than oil. Oil level doesn't seem to have dropped, although it's only had if for 5 days.
Hope the soot reduces. Seems like it's running very rich and I wonder if it's normal for the GTI?
Might need to look into black chrome exhausts!
All cars do it to some extent. Short trips would be worse, it can't run richer than it has been programmed for by VW, there's a lambda probe that tells all to the ECU. The engine needs to be at full operating temp before the lambda control works though, so driving for less than 5 minutes wouldn't do the job.
Have a look around a few other GTIs and Rs they'll all be the same.

not the ones with catch cans installed
the oil.
i have not seen any burnt oil stain on the tips since the install.
you'd be amazed how much oil is gone with the blow by when driven hard for extended period. blow by = oil -> discharged through the pcv hose then via turbo (when in boost), then intercooler, then intake manifold, then hopefully burnt properly, then any remaining unburnt oil leaves stain on the tips.
when not in boost, it's pcv hose staight into the intake manifold.
etc etc etc...
thats also why the use of vw504.00 approved oil is highly recommended to reduce carbon build upon the intake valves.
