It sounds like you are putting the cart before the horse.
When I was working in dealerships we replaced a number of seats under warranty. Weird things wrong with them such as the squab being twisted horizontally or collapsed on one side or the seat rails not being aligned or the backrest being twisted.
All unique & very odd problems & we had no idea how they occured at the factory.
Tolerances weren't as tight back then so sometimes you just had to unbolt the seat & twist it or remove carpet that was trapped underneath.
