Just contacted my dealer and they seem reasonably supportive. Have to take my car in tomorrow for a test drive and if they think it's the clutches (which it is) they will request a repair through VW Australia. Even though the car's 4 months out of warranty he thinks that the repair should be covered.

    DQ200 (DSG 7speed) software upgrade a WINNER

Last week I invested in the DQ200 upgrade from Guy Harding's joint in Coorparoo. And truly, it is an investment. Worth every cent, wish VW had programmed the 'box this way from the outset, the improvement is so noticeable. Love driving the car in city traffic again, and roundabouts no longer cause me to reach for the Xanax... The car is simply in the right gear going in, through, and out...didn't used to be this way, sadly. If you have a 7sp DSG that gives you the #@%!!s, then get into this upgrade.

Sounds good but I'd much rather put the $995 towards a GTI...

Just heard from a friend in the UK who has a 2012 Focus with a brand new dry clutch S tronic (DSG) gearbox and he described all the exact problems we have - at least it's not just us then.

That said I've been driving a 6spd DSG 103TDI these last two days and have some comparative notes jotted down, will post my findings later this week.

I just did a 1000km return trip and experienced my first shudders. Mainly the typical 2nd gear shudder and when going around corners with the steering wheel in full lock. The car was in second gear and reved all the way to 4000rpms till I took the foot of the throttle and the clutch engaged.

VCDS showed 0 errors. Is that normal? I am planing on going stage 2+ fairly soon, but not sure how to handle this now without any error codes to show the dealer.

Anybody else experienced no fault codes after the shudder?

My car is a MY12 155TSI Tiguan with the 7 Speed DSG.....

Your dsg is different from the ones in this thread. Your dsg has a wet clutch vs our dry clutches. I'm not sure what help we can provide in this thread. May have to visit the Tiguan forum?

I know mate, the only thing I was asking was if VCDS normally doesn't detect errors after a common DSG shudder. But I'll try it over there then, thanks anyway.....

My bad. Wasn't trying to run you. I don't think vcds stores error codes for shudder. That's why you have stories in this thread about owners carrying their car to vw but nothing being down by vw due to not being able to reproduce the shudder and no error codes to confirm anything.

It may however be different with the wet clutches? I'm just guessing at this point. Like maybe low dsg fluid error or something.

No offence taken. I'll have another longer trip coming up in the near future and I might try to pay extra attention this time and decide then what to do. I'm getting a DSG tune anyway, that might solve the problems...

Mine goes in on Tuesday for a clutch pack. Software upgrade did result in the gearbox down changing on descents when cruise enabled without touching the brakes. It never did that before.
