Have you guys read about VW admitting problems publicly about dq200 dsgs? I have read in several news outlets that they have extended the warranty to 10 years and 160,000km in China. That's the tranny under discussion in this thread.

I attended the VW Driving Experience during the weekend and spoke to the mechanic on site and he claims due to the fact I drive 90% highway miles and less city traffic, the DSG "fuzzy logic" learns to drive in such a manner, not sure how this impacts first and second gear lags in the DSG since it is almost not used in highway driving with the exception of the slow/crawling traffic.

I was informed the fuzzy logic system cannot be turned off - but can be reset again and again. I suppose I just have to get used to taking off in manual or sport in an intersection as in D1/D2 you never know when it will work properly or not.

Hope the Mk7 doesn't have this fuzzy logic adaptation system on board. I know what the road situations are and would rather adapt to the car's 'constant' values rather than try to adapt to something that's trying to adapt to me without knowing enough about the surrounding circumstances. I may be forced to drive like a granny during bad peak hour traffic but if a gap opens up I want a lot of power without hesitation to make the most of it. Fortunately SprintBooster fixes the D1/2 hesitation issue mostly (enough) for me.

If you use the paddles you will go faster Seriously, IMO manual is best unless you are in stop start traffic.

I know, that's why I bought the GTI steering wheel as a retrofit

Use paddles practically all the time

    DSG Shudder

As in my letter, I advised that it was not convenient for me to travel to a service centre which is a long way away and to go through this mundane process of various testing, maybe 2 or 3 times before an evaluation is complete. It is a well know fact that VW is totally aware of this transmission fault (defective shims and clutch material) so they must recall all vehicles or simply approved this warranty repair without all the red tape involved.
The consultant started to change her tune and advised me that there is nothing that can be done to shorten this process and basically bad luck. She couldn't care less if I sold the car due to my intense disappointment with the VW brand.
Had my new clutch pack done 2 weeks ago with no red tape at DSG VW in WA. The tester brought the car out for a short dirve and recommended a clutch pack change and programe upgrade as this has become a known problem in some Golf VI. Seems to drive ok for now but I wonder if its has caused damage to the transmission after shuddering for a couple of months B4 it was rectified.

Has anyone who has had the clutch pack replaced had a recurrence of the shuddering?

No recurrence here as yet, but it has been less than 6 months. I know others had theirs done quite some time in advance of that.

I have done mine last week and it feels even better than the car was new no more shuddering and it pulls in 2nd a lot harder. Will update after a month to see if it happens again since I drive it everyday in traffic :|
