The 5051 is the machine used by Volkswagen to read faults in the memory of control units.
I have send my car in for a 40K service today, also asked mech to check for bad shudder and the squeak sounds. They have told me they need to order the "dual cluth repair kit", which will take 2 weeks time to arrive. They are honest to me that changing the water pump is only a temp solution and lots of customer still having the same problem after the water pump replacement. This has been an ongoing problem for 18 months now and they still waiting for a permanent fix, but dealer said they are happy to replace the water pump for me too if i want. So i am now waiting for the parts to arrive.
Thumbs up to VW chatswood classic
also anyone knows what is a 5051 fault?

Hi Guys, I can to relate to all the issue posted in this thread, I used to own one of the first 118TSI Jettas into AU with the 7DSG trans onboard...... I have to say I loved this car to bits!! I loved the refinement, engine, trans, features and comfort until the DSG lost the plot one day in heavy traffic and shut itself down.... turned out to be (yet another) mechatronics unit and after a lot of trouble I finally got the car back 4 weeks later!! long story, not going into it now. Anyway, a few thing I learnt while owning it over a 2 year period.....
1) Shudder, it never did this until after I had the first service where a 'clutch adaption' was carried out. Did it most days after that, never resolved.
2) Clunking, everytime I came to a stop or neared a crawl in traffic, the 'clunk' was apparent during downshift.
3) If you're going to 'chip' your ride with the 7DSG on board, be aware...... I 'chipped' mine with around 20k on the clock with both 95 and 98 tunes, it was an awesome upgrade but I encountered clutch slip..... I noticed this more when cruising at around 70km/h and trying to pull a passing manouver I would get a 500rpm - 1000rpm jump in the tacho, it would then settle again and continue to pull like a school boy at a peep show.... if I tried to back off and punch it again making the trans drop 2-3 gears, rpm would shoot up then settle again.... all indicating clutch slip. Off the mark it was great.... only under load when it changed back to 4th at around 70km/h I would experience slip.
VW states a 250NM max torque on the trans, with the tunes I pushed around 280NM and up to 310NM through it.... slip was apparent on both tunes although less on the 95 tune.
All in all I loved the Jetta but after purchasing a boat the Jetta had to go....it couldn't tow my new toy so I now have a Tiguan with the 6 speed manual that suits all my needs.......I love the 4 motion (same system as Golf R I think) and six speed..... I now have total control again and no fear of a costly mechatronics repair of around $6,500 when the warranty expires!!!
Tiggy 125TSI, 6 speed manual, tints, comfort pack.
Thanks Creniac for the opinion.. I was/am tempted to get the ECU upgrade but then all of the DSG issues have made me think I possibly need the extended warranty instead - nice to hear from someone who actually did it and knows the pros and cons.

DAMN!
DAMN!!!
I'm over VW, my next car will NOT be VW, that is for sure.
After the clutch pack was changed the car was driving fine until today, when it lost all drive. I just turned into a side road, went a bit uphill and away it goes, just lost the drive. The dashboard was displaying a blinking "D" (for drive, or rather for no-drive-for-you). Pressing the accellerator gets the engine to rev up to about 1200 rpm and that's it. If I put it in park the engine revs fine, but putting it into any gear gots you nowhere.
The 'engine' orange light is on and the gear selection is blinking.
Called VW, they sent RACQ. The man (a very helpful dude) checked for errors and it displaed "P0947 Hydraulic Pump Relay Circuit Low" under voltage settings. That was the only error. He then checked the fuse box and fuse F2 was blown. He replaced it twice but it blew the moment he put the replacement in. Manual says F2 is ABS and ESP.
VW then ordered tow truck and they kept telling me he'll be there in 45 minutes each time I rang. In the end after 4,5 hours waiting the guy rocked up and towed the car away.
I don't know what the P0947 Hydraulic Pump Relay Circuit Low error means but I dearly hope they don't have to replace the DSG as that takes long time. I have booked and paid for family trip to Melbourne just after the new year (driving that car). THe other problem is if I don't make the trip I won't meet my mileage quota which will mean $3000 I have to pay in FBT as it's a leased car. The 3500km trip to Melbourne is part of my planned mileage for the year. On top of that if they give me a loan car, the question is will they let me drive it that far and I have to pay for the fuel (with my car, being leased, it's already paid for)
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooo pissed off.
I have to check the 'lemon law' and see what I can do about getting the car replaced by a new car by VW. This one is 2 years old, has 50.000 km, had the engine blown at 15.000km, numerous problems with air conditioning and DSG problem gallore, from shudder via software upgrade, clutch pack replacement and now this. I think I've been back to VW at least 10 times since I bought it and I am not happy, Jen! Any advice how to go about this?
Also, I am sooooo going to demand the complimentary extended manufacturer warranty once it's fixed.
Has anybody have this P0947 Hydraulic Pump Relay Circuit Low issue?
Did I mention that I'm pissed off?
Thats F***ked!
Hope you have some joy on getting it fixed.. personally I'd be pursuing the lemon laws if you can.

Another one.....
I just got back from the dealer because of that big plume of black smoke the car was blasting out the back and I will need to get the mechatronic replaced. I need to get new appointment in the new year for it.
Just wondering whats next ........
