Hope this is nothing too serious and will be easy fixable.
Had mine is yesterday and they've discovered some of the bolts in the engine mount have.... can't remember the word. Anyway, there's something wrong with the bolts and the engine is moving a tad, which would account for some 'shuddering' I guess. Gotta sort that one out before they look the transmission/clutches.
Hope this is nothing too serious and will be easy fixable.
Well I've been driving it like that for something like the last 10,000kms so it shouldn't be too bad - will just get the engine hoisted up and replace all the bolts, etc, then will see what else needs to be done and take it back to VW.
If they've been loose then the bolt threads will have fretted, preventing them from staying tight.
Update on ours, one week since the new clutches and no sign of any shudder. Missus reports it was revving longer in gears than before, maybe it is learning her driving style. Happy with it for the moment, gonna spend 5 or 6 hours doing wash, clay block, paint correct and seal tomorrow. If it ever stops raining, that is.

I am so glad to have found this thread after hunting around for a while...........I thought I knew about the rough 2nd gear issue on the dry clutch enough and never knew it was so bad till I bought a used 7 speed DSG Passat B6 of 18 months.... The service records show that the MegaTronic have been replaced about 6 months ago so I thought this would be a good buy !
The 2nd shuddering could be really bad at times....and it seems to be getting worse.....each day I use it. The good thing is that is only restricted to 2nd gear in automatic and not in manual mode or other gears. Only happens when the car get warm and the going gets heavy...( traffic jams, slopes, slowly creepy drive off )....if it is not for the super comfy ride, great fuel economy and super performance of this Passat B6...I would have screamed ! The perks keeps the lid on !
Gonna get Volkswagen to get the clutch pack replaced asap

Dropped the car this morning with Bill Buckle in Brookvale for the "shudder" check. I got told they need to run some diagnostic tests and I can get the car back in the arvo.
Just got a call from the rep. asking if they could do the clutch replacement today. Just like this. Will pick up the car tomorrow and report back.
cheers

EDIT: Picked the car up this morning. All good. Drives like it shold be. I am just wondering what's next......

Mine has developed this annoying 2nd shudder since last month and now I have this shudder plus the bloody noisy eek sound when pushing the gas pedal. Time to dealer I guess....
Just got back from a trip up to the Hunter Valley. Its the first time I've driven it properly since the clutches were replaced as the car is my wife's daily drive. All I can say is what a difference! Apart from no shudder, there is now no appreciable lag on initial take off. The gears change at better intervals than before, you don't find yourself bogged down in 6th gear at 40kph anymore. I thought this might affect fuel consumption, but we did around 500 kms for just under 1/2 tank and expected range screen was still showing 350 kms to fill up.
Very impressed with it again now, its how the transmission should have been from day 1.
