do you guys notice it slips the clutch a bit into the next gear? mine does that... but only for either set of gears (even or odd) but never both
I wonder why it does that... I can't imagine it being any good for the clutches

    Only 118 TSI problem

    Hi Guys,

I have the same symptoms but on a 90TSI. I think all posters here are 118TSI owners and I could not find a threat related to my model.

I will make an appointment with VW Bill Buckle in Brookvale and see how I go.

Nice to realise that I am not alone with this as my wife usually say's "I hear the grass grow" (German expression).

    Cheers

Like I said in previous post. New clutch put in at about 30k now at about 45k with no sign of shudder. Now every once and a while ( becoming more frequent- about every 2/3 time I go for a drive) when coming off coasting and applying mild acceleration, I get a tic tic tic tic slight loos of power and a puff of black smoke out the back. Service guys contacted vw service line, apparently it's a first. They think the new pump will fix it. Spewin my car is the guinea pig. Love the golf 90% of the time. 10% I feel like I've got a lemon.
Dont be alarmed, the 'clutch pump' will be the replacement of the mechatronics. The newer box mechatronics has a pump inside and its own oil.

Mine is a 90TSI, as mentioned earlier in this post, a new clutch pack has been ordered and will be fitted in about 2 weeks.

The problem seems to be with any model fitted with 7 speed DSG. 118TSI just happen to be the most popular 7 speed DSG VW's

Mine's at the dealer today. Was a (mild) attempt to fob me off, but soon demonstrated the fault to a mechanic. The car did have the "software update" applied earlier in the year, but the problem persists. We'll see what they say when I pick it up.

I got mine back from the dealer 2 days ago with a new clutch pack. Seems to have solved the problem, hopefully it doesn't come back as my warranty runs out in a few months.

The problem that I have is that the car has been behaving itself for a few weeks now (the fault count in VCDS is probably still going up, but nothing noticeably as bad as before), so can't really take it to the dealers to demonstrate the fault. Still got ~1 year left though, so we'll see what happens.

[+] nevermind, it happened again today.

Dropping my car off at VW Wangara tomorrow after work for them to have further look at the shudder issue - they have already reset the DSG a month or so ago at the 15k service. Will find out Tuesday what the verdict is. As with everyone else the problem doesn't happen all of the time in fact it went a whole week without an issue but then bang, yesterday, it plays up almost all day.
