Try using VCDS to turn down the HSA setting one notch, since you're noticing jerkiness particularly on inclines:

Does anyone know how long these pads can last if things continue like this? I imagine there are tons of people out there who probably have minimal shudder and just deal with it.

thanks Ryan_R, Burwin it is then.
Turning the wheel on full lock while creeping fwd and then Accelerating also replicates it.

I have other suspension issues with the car that have not been fully resolved either, so I am waving the flag. I didn't go for the dsg tune as my 1st gear takeoff is shuddering which reduces my confidence in the drive train. Like I said my issues r real bad.

Golf 7 Speed DSG shudder / clutch issues

cktsi, if after clutch pack replacement you still have the shudder (I'm assuming you have the DQ200 7spd dsg) then most likely it's the mechatronics unit not supplying enough pressure to the actuation piston that controls the k1 clutch which will cause excessive clutch slip and shuddering. With VCDS you can check this however without knowing the exact specs that VAG recommend as normal operation, the data is pretty much pointless.

How good would a 10year, 160,000km warranty be on the dsg......

Interesting point. Can't go there as I am out of warranty and they have replaced the mechatronics twice

The k1 clutch take up feels multi stage instead of the one smooth engagement when the car was new. There feels like three stages and the slip happens in the 2nd stage.

You mention that you didn't go for the dsg tune due to the 1st gear take off shuddering, pardon my lack of knowledge on the subject but doesn't the dsg tune alter the way the mechtronics interacts with the clutches?

Just booked in to have the car looked at @ vw church st service centre (sth yarra group). The gentleman there was quite helpful and friendly. They said they'll keep the car for the day to properly diagnose the problem. Hope they find something through their diagnostic software as the shuddering doesn't happen ALL the time.

If it has been replaced twice already and the problem Has come back, I would be arguing that under Australian consumer law, you are entitled that the product you have bought will service your needs for a reasonable amount of time. If this is the 3rd unit and is defective again (surprise surprise) then you can claim the repairs should be carried out regardless of warranty.

Not if it is a warranty repair, the new car warranty period still stands.
Mine has now been reported to the ACCC and consumer affairs Victoria.....

The service guys at Burwin all said the 1 year thing for me, since I was asking about purchasing the extra 2 years new car warranty.
