Got my vehicle back today after VW removed and replaced multi clutch pack. There were not ECU upgrades. The drive back to office was good. Gear change from D1 to D2 was smooth. Hoping this will last.
Very true. However, the 1st time it was replaced, I knew straight away it didn't work as there was shudder from D1 to D2.
Apparently my DSG was given a new program at the 45k service earlier this year and I've noticed both improved shift points (7th gear is now around 75km/h not 58km/h), more willingness to kick down 1 gear on steep inclines, and increased use of 1st gear for takeoffs (although D2 is still used for faster crawl takeoffs). I'm hoping the new software program will have less wear on the clutches - particularly the surprise in increased use of 1st gear for takeoff.

So that's the 3rd time they've replaced it?
They must be sick of you by now
My clutches are still good after a week. Definitely better than the 1st replacement. 1 caveat is that I am using manual mode 100% as recommended by Guy_H until I can get the DSG tune

10 months after getting my clutch pack replaced.... it's back!
It only occurs after about a 45 minute drive. Which is how it started the first time as well. It progressively get's worse and the time it takes to show it's ugly face decreases. Now just need to find time to take it back to the dealer.
Although I'm out of the original warranty period, and I did get extended warranty, this should be covered under the original warranty as they have failed to fix a problem that was started during the original warranty period.
Good luck arguing that one
Let us know what happens
Alok, you shouldn't worry too much about getting it fixed.
Firstly, you have the extended warranty, which is exactly that - extended warranty and covers your vehicle in the exactly same way as the initial 3 year warranty.
Secondly, any work and parts the VW service centre does on your vehicle carries two years parts and about warranty, check your receipt/service sheet when it was originally done.
As for the clutch packs ... I have Golf VI 118 TSI DSG, still a few months warranty left, and I complained about the DSG behaviour from the very early days. The thing finally completely failed at 45,000 km and was replaced under warranty. At around 50,000 km the mechatronics failed, so they had to replace that as well. Not long after that the clutch started shuddering again in 2D, so at 60,000 km service they were supposed to replace the clutch pack yet again - but they didn't. They said drive on and we'll order a new type that now goes in all new DSG7s, it will take a few weeks.
They said the original clutch pack has been discontinued due to a high failure rate and that the new redesigned clutch pack is now available from a different manufacturer.
After 4 weeks the parts arrived, the clutch pack was replaced for the second time and around 8,000 km later the car drives beautifully, like it never did with the first two packs.
The second replacement was in March or April, so probably the one you've got is still the dodgy old type one. THe new one should be okay.
Thanks for the Stelex. Gives me some piece of mind
Won't the new clutch have at least a 12 month warranty on it anyway?
