My dealer is driving me nuts. The car arrived on the Tortugas almost three weeks ago. Still can't give me a date, all he can say is once it gets to the dealer then we can give you a date. When it landed he said 2 to 3 weeks, now it's 3 to 4 weeks! Makes it worse when others have had their cars for over a week.

I know exactly how you feel. My R has been sitting on the docks in Melbourne as well. My dealer has been really good and has been hassling VGA and got his manager involved etc. He updated me daily and today I had some good news. Worked out that it has passed pre-inspection and is now ready for shipment and delivery. VGA didn't want to tell what the holdup was but he persisted and it turned out to be damage on one of the panels which they have now "repaired".
I suspect there is a problem with your car otherwise it wouldn't be held up like that. It takes a lot to get information out of VGA and I'd push your dealer to find out. I was reading an article on drive.com.au, do a search for damage to new car on delivery in google and it's like the fifth link or so down. Apparently according to motor dealer act, they are not obliged to tell anything unless they repair a panel that has more than superficial damge or replace >4 panels which I think is unfair but I guess there must be a lot of transport damage cars. They repaired the damage but it still gives you a sick feeling that you're buying a factory second. It is my understanding that if a fridge had a scratch on it, it would be sold at a reduced price as a factory second rather than fixed up and sold new. I understand that we aren't talking whitegoods *cough*CW*cough*.
Either way, I'm just waiting for delivery now. Dealer, their detailer and myself will inspect it thoroughly when the car arrives to make sure it's satisfactory. Again, cannot recommend my dealer enough. Let me know how you go with yours as I'm interested to find out whether you had the same problems.

My car also took 4 weeks to be delivered to from the docks to the dealer. Another owner was also delayed and their dealer advised them that their SatNav had been stolem. I suspect that mine was stolen too (never told this, just guessing) because when I picked the car up the RVC wasn't showing any images and the sat nav instructions wheren’t showing in the MDF display. these had to be configured at a subsequent visit. I am sure that it would not have left the factory like that. Having said all that, any damge (if any) was fixed so the car looked new to me.

I feel for you and Rays_R. It's a bit rubbish how some dealers seem to get their hands on the cars quite quickly and others have to wait longer (or mess around for longer). At the very least, they should be able to tell you what stage it is at.
I hope you guys get your hands on your new cars soon. It could be like Todd's Skoda and it's actually arrived at the dealership but no one bothered to tell anyone else.

Just spoke to the dealer, pickup next Thursday. No word on what the hold up was.
I'd requested the factory tint, which they didn't put on the order so it's getting a full tint here instead.
