Well, wouldnt be so bad if I still had the GTI. No car and relying on public transport to commute from the Hills area to the beaches aint fun ..
I just hope the car is held up due to suggested compliance matters and not because it got damaged and is being panel beated !
See, that is thinking the worst case scenario

Current Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist
Hi all,
Just ordered my first golf. First vw infact...
Test drove them all, whilst I would have loved to grab the GTI or the R, I ended up balancing budget, comfort and performance and went for the 118TSI with a few snazzy options. The drive is enjoyable and the features plentiful. For the money, I couldnt beat it after looking at several other brands.
These forums were so much help. I got answers to nearly all my questions without even asking! Great work guys keep it up, it is invaluable when researching these cars.
I'm really excited about the purchase and can't wait for it to get here.
Any thoughts on the 118 from owners (or others - I know most of you lucky buggers are rolling around in GTIs or Rs)??
Cheers

My baby has just had her 2nd birthday and has nearly 60,000km on her. Apart from the well publicised chirp under acceleration (that magically disappeared quite a while ago) the only problem I've had is the DSG shuddering when you cruise up to an intersection and take off again in 2nd gear. I'm hopefully getting that fixed next service.
I would recommend you get your wheel alignment checked as my tyres feathered on the inside edges and became extremely noisy. I can't complain really though, I'm swapping the tyres this Saturday at 58,000km and they are still very much legal as far as tread goes, its just the noise I can't stand.
Its my wife's daily drive and she regularly gets 750km or more to the tank, in peak hour traffic, on 98RON premium fuel.
All in all I've really loved this little car and will be looking to get into a GTI next year. Enjoy your ride. Do you have to wait long for delivery?

Hi all. I picked up my 118TSI cxomfortline on Monday. The car was purchased from Maitland Volkswagen. Shane Nilsson sold me the car and he was so helpful that he brought the car to me for a test dive, kept me well informed all the time, and insisted that he he would pick me up when the car was ready for pick up. So you can imagine that i was very happy with the service and friendship. The sales manager Steve ****son was most abliging with his addition assistance and helpfulness duaring the whole process of the purchase of the car.
I jast felt i wanted to say that about Maitland Volkswagen. ( and i won't be buying another car for a long while )
After saying that, the car seems great. I am 72 so this car is it. I have the parallel parking ( can't park ), Front and rear sensors ( poor eye sight ), rear view camera ( bad neck ), sat. nav ( don't know where i am going ), all i need now is a hot blond and i would not know what to do or how to do.
The last couple of days i have given it the treatment with nanolex. Clean with superwash CT 18, Clayed the car, cleaned with Nanolex paint cleaner, then finished with Nanolex Paint and Alloy Sealant. Also i protected the interior with Nanolex Textile and Leather Premium.
My comments are : The paint cleaner was just enough to do the car and wheels. The Nanolex sealant was not enough to do the car and the wheels, unfortunately the wheels were not covered as good as i wanted. I know they say to use a small amount and i was aware of that , but is was not enough to cover it correctly, in my opinion.
I do not know if it will work as good as they say, but i hope so.
With the interior, i used the Nanolex Textile and Leather Premium. All it covered was the front seats, the head rests and the front doors. So i was supprised it did not cover all the inside.
I know people will say i was too heavy handed , but i did not appear to be using too much of the Nanolex, only used what seemed to me to be correct at the time.
Next, I added the garage door opening switch , eventially i got it right. I was worried about lifting up the plastic surroud around the gear lever, but what i did was use 2 plastic cards and a small screwdriver between the plastic cards to lever the cover up.
Then i did not have a special screwdriver.
Next, i added the rubber mat for the boot. I had purchased it from Supercheap and with cutting it is perfect.
All in all it appears the the 118 TSI white will be perfect for me. The white will be good for fixing scratches etc, the 118 comfortline will give a smoother ride, and i may be able to control the power where the GT could have been a problem for me . I wanted a car for around town and also for highway driving.
I am drinking white lightning at the moment so i not sure what i have said.
I will send a pic later as i added mud flaps and they look OK, i know others may not think so.
I have my VWWatercooled sticker on the car and i would like to say that you are all are great crew of people.
I hope someone reads this for whatever. From Graham Newcastle
