Yep.. don't think there is anything there that could be argued
Ok guys so I picked up the Golf R on Monday and have been driving it since.
On the day I picked it up I drove it up to Terrigal going through the Old Pacific Highway route which is a fantastic stretch of road for some spirited driving.
The car is bloody amazing, when driven is S mode it is such a pleasure to drive, everything in this VW works so well together its amazing. The power delivery is smooth and effortless to the point that I was reaching license losing speeds without realising very quickly. The car takes every corner you throw at it in its stride and asks you if that is all you got. Grips was fantastic through bends and ride was comfortable even without having the ACC.
As everyone else pointed out the D mode in the gearbox is irritating, it is way too eager to shift up gears even hen not necessary, at times frustrating me, but nothing that a quick flick of the paddle shifts cant fix in a second.
I am deeply in love with this thing!! I get home from work, park it outside and go to take a look at it through the window a few times an hour hahah Im like a little kid in a candy store. So happy with my purchase!

The car is expected to arrive end of August, but I wont be picking it up until mid September to coincide with a cash contribution towards the car. Dealer cant give me the VIN number yet. I need to read the other thread carefully...
The car your suggested with the 19 silvers without ACC describes the car I have on order.... Cant wait already looking at Car Detailing Products.com for the new family member.
Congrats your your car........ What was the dealer added things you were referring to?

Hi all, I’m a new member and a soon to be new owner of a golf 118tsi.
I purchased the car last week, (brand new) got a great deal on it as it was dealer stock, and 2010 plated.
It’s September 2010 built, which I'm told is a MY11 model??, 6 speed manual, I upgraded the stereo head unit to the touch screen, tinted the windows and got the MDI, colour is silver and I'm picking up the car tomorrow.
Now i was damn excited about it, it my first euro car as I've always owned Jap cars, mazda, mitsub, etc, but i spent last night checking out this forum and a few others and now i have a sinking feeling in my stomach...
After reading post and posts about failed engines, cars spending weeks and weeks in the service centre, super charger noises, I'm feeling like i just made a huge mistake, i know i should have researched the car prior to buying it , but sadly i didn't, besides the great reviews on car sites, i mean it won world car of the car in 2009 WTF.
Does anyone have any positive owner reviews on their 118tsi? or have i just F’ed up majorly.
Thanks all
Welcome to the forums. I merged your thread in here, cause if everyone who ordered/received a new Golf started their own thread, we'd never be able to find anything
Go onto any car forum, and you'll find people having problems. That's why a decent portion of people go to the internet, to find out how to resolve the problems that they're having. So it's the nature of the beast. Mazda and Subaru have both had "engine bricking" issues over the past decade in various models due to the differences in fuel between our country and the country of manufacturer, and not having the knock sensors properly calibrated. Thus, not really sure why VW having the same issue as those two companies would be of concern to you. It's resolved now.
As for the supercharger noise. It's mechanical. Like an analogue clock which ticks, a supercharger makes noise! Some owners expectations are just different to others is all. Some owners of the GTI complain cause they can't hear the turbo, some owners of the 118TSI complain cause they can hear the Supercharger.
So in other words... get out there and enjoy your car
