God, how stupid you are at 19?
Gees we did some stupid stuff.
I remember one easter on houseboats on the Noosa River, when we went through 43 cartons of beer and a couple of bottles of Jim Beam (12 guys).
We'd kill ourselves now if we tried to do that. (46 and a tad smarter now).

Besides much prefer a bottle of "Henschke- Hill of Grace" now.
bought a hobbie 16 'for the kids' a few years back and would take it up there for a burn.... talk about seat of your pants stuff. Buying a hobbie to teach the kids to sail is like buying a porsche to teach a kid to drive... big mistake but what an pisser we had almost killing ourselves.

So how about you me DreamensioN meet up for the A tour... landsborough, maleny, maybe down to woodford back to montville???

I'd love to be in that, lets sort a day.
My preference would be sunday mornings?
we could meet up somewhere around 7am and have breakfast somewhere on the trip, finish by late morning?

Big_Dave - you done the full Mt Nebo/Mt Glorious run yet?

Hi Dreamy, not in the R yet, did Mt Tambourine last Sunday. What a dissapointment that was (the road not the car)
It has really deteriated since last time i was on it.

The Gap (where I grew up) to Wivenhoe via mt Glorious is the best driving road in Brisbane IMO.
Smooth surface, sweeping corners and fast switch backs, nice downhill straights.
Trying to keep up with the bikes can be a risky endeavour though.

Wrote off my first car on Mt Nebo one Friday night.

Anyone bought a new interstate who is in NSW?

I've been told by the RTA that I need a blueslip for a brand new car. This strikes me as a load of bollocks. There is no mention of this in the registering a new car section of their website.

Anyone had any experience of this?

lets put it that way (drove car from VIC to SA but the same bollocks), I had to take my brand new car to SA inspection before I could register it... car was 1 day old (from the dealer)

Something similar happened to a friend of mine, as I understand it...

If the vehicle is new... purchased interstate, BUT registered for the first time in NSW (i.e. NSW Plates), you don't need a Blue Slip.

If the Vehicle is registered in the state of purchase (i.e. QLD or VIC plates) THEN purchased by a NSW resident, the vehicle needs a Blue Slip to transfer it onto NSW registration. Apparently it is to stop the states minor differing regulations (i.e. Tint) spilling over to NSW. To avoid all this, the last car I bought interstate, I had registered in NSW by the dealer.

The reality is, it's another cash grab from the government, dressed up!

Also... if you change the State of registration, I think some stamp duty payment (or difference thereof) which may apply! Anyone know more?

Hey guys. This is a bit off topic for this thread. I think you'd be doing yourselves much better favour (i.e. having a better chance of getting good advice back) if you created this thread in General to discuss the topic of interstate purchases/registration. That way you open yourself up to wider than just the MK6 people.

I've got no issue with it for a second hand car - I did it with my current car in 08.

But for a new car it is just pathetic. And their own website is contradictory.

My dealer just called - he tells me the car is due in the dealership next Thurs or Fri, they need a couple of days for PD so I can have it early the week after, say March 7 or 8. Great... especially great seeing as though I have their loan car to drive. Let me know what your dealer tells you?
