Mate, V3 maps have been out for ages so I would be very very surprised if you had an earlier version on the RNS510Picked up my GTI on Friday. Upon arrival at the dealership and seeing it was immediately a bit disappointed and annoyed to note it had all the dealer plate advertising and it was plastered in stickers despite having asked them several times not to do this. Anyway, a relatively small thing, and to their credit they rectified it immediately, but I had expected better after my initial fantastic treatment during the sale. The sales guy I bought it off, who was awesome, has since moved on and things seemed to have gone a bit downhill from there.
Battled my way through terrible traffic in Sydney and finally got to the Pac Hwy but I still couldn't give it any... the Gods saw me coming coming and placed every 50 year old truck and Camry in front of me (actually reminded me of an episode of the Late Show where they had a team of senior citizens trying to reak havoc on society by irritating them) . I did have a free run after I pulled over for a bite to eat and I gave her some. Felt awesome in Sports mode when I also put her into sport on the ACC. I restrained myself from giving it too much and then found my way back onto the Central Coast highway as I had to get home.
Was having a ball... then I hit the Terrigal area and the problems started with the RNS-510. It kept locking up and trying to reboot.... only to lock up again. It did this all the way home. At first I thought it was something I did.
The next day as I drove around my area it kept doing it. A quick google search revealed this as a problem common in the Central Coast region. From what I read it's an issue with the Sat Nav and the version of maps. From what I read the latest V3 of the maps fixes this problem. The dealer I bought it from insists they put the latest version on it but everything I have read suggests this not to be the case. I called my local dealer and talked to the service manager who was familiar with the issue. Result: I now have it booked in for them to take a look and see what's what. I'll be mega pissed if I find out the dealer I bought off put an old version on despite me calling to confirm.
Kind of spoiled my experience to be honest. To date I have had to set the volume of the stereo real low as 80% of the time it's locked up and I can't change radio station, change volume, or basically do anything... I look forward to getting this resolved and also the official VW survey!
