Thank you coreying for your reply,
As it is now October I would be looking for a 2011 BUILD and 2011 Compliance ( I realise the specs will be most possibly the same, perhaps better resale value, being 2011 not 2010.)
The reason I asked about the build schedules was because I recently purchased an Audi A4B8 ( October 2009) with delivery expected Feb/Mar 2010. What I was not told was the SCHEDULED build date for this model was not due until late Feb 2010, the car arriving late June 2010. I wonder if anyone is aware of Golf Gti 2011 build dates ???
Best wishes always
John
Well, as I said in my previous post, specifications are determined by the Model Year, so that's been set for all Golfs built since June this year and won't change until mid next year (if it does change). So all Golfs being built or delivered now are MY11.
What determines resale value?
To most car dealerships/wholesalers on the Eastern side of Australia, it's Build Date. They don't care about Compliance etc. At least in WA, they do in fact care about the Compliance Date and not about the Build Date (according to our WA dealer forum members).
Consumers usually care about Build Date AND Model Year, as MY indicates the specification level and build date indicates exactly how old the car is.
Also, not discussed is initial registration date. It is usually the initial registration date from which the warranty period of a car commences. This is also often important to consumers. If you are selling a car less than 3 years old.
If by this you as asking if anyone knows what the factory schedule is for Australian bound Golf GTI production? Then no, not your dealer, not VGA, and more than likely, not even the factory can tell you that! If you MUST have your car built in 2011, stipulate that in the contract with your dealer, and then they can keep an eye on the NADCON ETA data, and they can keep changing spec so it keeps getting delayed (if that's even necessary at this point).
There is also a "Desired Week" box in the "Customer Data" table in the "Order Details" page of NADCON. I'm not sure what that field is for, or even whether a dealer can change it, but maybe it can be used for ensuring a delay to 2011 build dates?
Either way... just make sure it's stipulated in your contract and I'm sure your dealer can figure it out.
