Nice car sVWatt.....keen to stretch her legs in the Brindabella's this weekend?![]()
Picked up the GTi on Thursday, got it registered in the ACT yesterday. Got the new ACT Euro style plates. - v. nice.
Still driving it with lots of moderation until today, when I put the foot down ever so slightly to get over to the right hand lane for turning right, and boy did I raise a smile
Awesome. Not the stuff of 1.4 GTi's - bloody tremendous. So I treated it (myself) to a car wash (brushless) and switched the heated seats on (yup Canberra is cooling already)... I LOVE this car.

Hi all
As the warranty on my 2010 118TSI was about to expire and I have concerns regarding a higher incidence of engine problems in this series.... I traded it in today on a second-hand Golf VI GTI. Had never driven one before and was very impressed!
Managed to get a MY12.5 GTI DSG with Detroits/ reverse camera/ parking sensors/ vinyl-wrap roof (carbon fibre)/ window tint with just 2150kms on the clock for $38,000 drive away. Change over price was $23000. I think that's an OK price in WA
I know it's not new but new enough for me. Pick it up next week....

So your $30,000+ Golf became a $15,000 Golf in less than 3 years? For a car that is supposed to have a retained value of around 65% over 3 years I wouldn't feel too good about that.

Resales/trade in values are absolutely hammered across all makes right now, that 65% would be VERY optimistic.
Not knowing the condition/mileage on that example, but assuming all good, then the $15k isn't stupid low - the dealer will add their usual $5-6k mark-up assuming they put it on their lot, and that lines up with a few dealer examples on carsales at the minute at the 21-22k bracket.

Yep. Price halved. I had a manual without any extras. Had it valued for trade-in at 2 dealers and $15000 was the price with both (red book quotes $14900- $17500). Car in excellent condition with 39000km on the clock and new tyres. They gave me $4500 off the asking price of the GTI which helped.
With the new Golf in the shops the standard manual mark VI isn't worth as much....yes, I could have tried selling it privately but I don't want the hassle

Hi all,
I've just traded in my Lexus for a new(er) daily driver,a 2010 Mk6 103TDI Comfortline Golf Wagon.
Initial impressions are positive, and seeing as I sell car parts online for a living, this car will slowly cop it's fair share of mods!
Look forward to seeing you all on the road!
Justin...
