Slapped down a deposit on a manual red 5dr GTi golf yesterday
Should be picking it up on Monday if all goes well.
Just posted to the car tracking thread - my car has arrived at my dealer in Canberra and I should be able to pick it up early next week. It was on the Morning Camilla and unloaded at Port Kembla on the 19th, for those tracking their cars.

Got a call from my dealer today that the car has arrived in the workshop. Waiting for pre-delivery work to take place over the next 2 days! Then pick up early next week
Golf R // 5 door // DSG // United Gray // 19'' black Talladega // Leather seats // ACC //
2PM today I will be collecting my R, man I am so excited, thank you Wangara VW for the call today and thanks to this forum for keeping me somewhat sane over the last 5 1/2 months

Looks like I chose the wrong dealer. Rang them today and they tell me about all these R's being delivered but no word on mine. If they spent less time trying to sell me parking sensors instead of working out the difference between their arse and heads they might have a clue.
<rant over, thank fark for the GT5 distraction!>

I really want some info regarding my Golf GTi.
I ordered it over a month ago, and while i know there wont be much info for me yet.
But is there any point to calling up and asking how the order is progressing?
Should i be asking for NADCOM screenshots?
You could ask for NADCON screenshots, but just be aware that they're under no obligation to actually provide them. On my Golf R order, there was no real info after only a month anyway....
So what I've found out is that there has been a change on the path that cars take from the boat to the customer. Traditionally cars would be cleared by customs, then sent through compliance (at Patrick's for example), and then sent to the dealer for the "dealer delivery" processes.
Now firstly, with Patrick's, it appears to be kinda random as "where in line" your car is - they certainly don't know or care who ordered what first. If there is a large shipment (or multiple shipments) one person's car might be in and out in a day, others might be over a week.
Then comes where the change is. Several dealers (no idea which ones or how many) have "outsourced" the dealer delivery process to a 3rd party company. So whereas before they could actually turn over a car in a day or so if required, now it goes to some other company at some other location where the dealers have little control over. It also means an additional truck ride then back to the dealer, for them to hand over the car to you.
Frustrating much!
