They were probably just covering themselves if it did take that long. A customer is always happier if it arrives before the original date. I know with mine it came forward by 4 weeks. Mine is a Comfortline though.

A month after ordering my car (and no contact) I emailed my new car coordinator at my dealership asking for a status of my GTI. After waiting a few days there was no response to this email so I decided to give her a call. I provided her with my commission number and was told it would be a July delivery. To confirm that it was a July delivery I followed up with an email this morning and still no response. Is anyone else out there having the same problem as I am?

I think the problem is due to the 'New Car Coordinator' not realising she's a 'car salesperson'. I had problems recently with a 'fuel transfer technician' at a local service station. They don't seem to understand their roles.. isn't it about service?
Seriously though, the sales person I'm dealing with is very good and replies in a timely manner, even though he might not have any info to give me at the time. He's from a small dealership though and I doubt they have a 'New Car Coordinator'.

Totally agree that 'new car coordinator' is a waste of customer's time. Hold your salesperson responsible to their job and only deal with them or their manager.

I signed up today and have a 6 month wait.
The dealer has advised that;
1) Within 2 weeks they should have confirmation of my car's production slot. They will contact me and provide estimated arrival dates.
2) Following this, they will provide the VIN and the ship details so I can track it online.
3) Upon ship arrival, they will contact me to let me know that delivery is three weeks away.
4) They will contact me at least 7 days prior to delivery.
Update on the situation...
Rang the dealership today and got the stuff around for a while, the said they would call me back in 1/2 hour... 5 hours passed. I then decided to call them where the salesman who sold me the car said that he asked the 'new car coordinator' and she had forgotten to call me back (he also apologised). They said that the car is now 'handed over to production' what ever that means and it will be here end of June with an early July delivery - but the salesman didn't sound confident as he was mumbling his words.
Another member on this forum ordered a GTI at the same time I did and from the same dealership as well. He spoke directly to the dealer principal asking him if it they were able to deliver the car early July and they laughed at him telling him he should be aiming for a September delivery...
The frustration continues... If they were upfront in the first place and just told me they were aiming for September delivery and communicated with me on a monthly basis instead of giving me different dates then I wouldn't be this upset

I know that you're eager, but I think you need to give them some slack. Unfortunately until a build slot gets allocated, they're about as in the dark as you are. They can only 'guestimate' when it will be available based on other orders they've done before yours.
Every build takes a different amount of time depending on options. If you want an exact date on when you can have your car - don't order one from a factory, compromise with your options and get one already in the country.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I just feel that you are putting too much ephasis on information which it is just not reasonable to be provided... yet!
I would bank on the 6 months wait, anything earlier is a bonus. I ordered in January and was quoted June delivery. It's looking like I may possibly get it a couple of weeks earlier, towards the end of May.
My dealer was up front with me as I said I'd rather the truth about the delivery time than be set up for disappointment.
